Week Seventeen

In Week Seventeen of the competition and we had our third Rollover of the season and all of the £12 cash prize money went to BRUCE SELF who won on a score of 10 goals. Bruce has become our nineteenth winner of the season.
Bruce has been with us for a very long time now and I thank him for his support over the years. Last season he finished in 106th place with 258 goals. He also had one weekend win. This season Bruce has picked up a total of four blank score sheets and this is his biggest weekend score since Week Two, where he was at his highest position to date of 24th place. His best team is Celtic.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We twenty-one of us who pick up some more goals this week and the race for the cash has changed slightly once again. It was STEVE MEDHURST that picked up the most number of goals with six as he had all of his combination playing. He has Doncaster, Fulham and Peterborough who all scored two goals each.
This week we have COLIN WEBB (2) who moves out in front with a total of 40 goals. In second place on 38 goals we have RICHARD WILLIAMS moving down from first place last week. In third place coming straight in we have STEVE MEDHURST with a total of 37 goals. In joint fourth place we still have ANDY EYLES but he is now joined with SCOTT THOMSON (2) and JACQUI WILLIAMS both moving down from second place all on a total of 36 goals. In fifth place on 35 goals we still have PATRICK O’DONAGHUE but he is now with TOBY BICKNELL and RYAN WILLIAMS both down from third place. In sixth place on 34 goals we still have PHIL REEVE but he is now with TONY GUY (4) moving down from fourth place. 

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had eight of our teams with out a game over the weekend and we had another nine teams that failed to score any goals. So the weekends average score shot up to a fantastic 7 goals. The reason for that is that we all picked up some weekend goals.
The highest score that we had came from League One where ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their highest result of the season by winning 7-1 at home to Bolton. With their fourth league win out of eighteen played, Accrington after failing to score in their last five games are now on a total of 25 goals.
Accrington Stanley became our 102nd voted English team to join Golden Goal when they first appeared in the 2006/07 Season. In that season they finished on a total of 71 goals which is their highest score to date. This is their fourth season with us and last season they finished on a total of 57 goals. So far this season they have picked up a total of seven blank score sheets and they have just the one vote. Over the season’s they have now scored a total of 220 goals which gives them an average score of 55 goals per season.

PREMIER LEAGUE
LIVERPOOL have remained top after they won 2-1 away to Crystal Palace. Liverpool have kept their 100% scoring record in tack as they chalk up fifteenth consecutive game. Liverpool are now on a total of 37 goals and eight points clear of LEICESTER CITY in second place. Leicester won 2-0 away to Brighton and they are now on a total of 39 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. MANCHESTER CITY are in third place after they won 2-1 at home to CHELSEA. City have taken their goals total up to 43 goals while Chelsea in fourth place picked up goal number 36 and they have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. In fifth place are WOLVES after they won 2-1 away to Bournemouth to take their goals tally to 20 goals. They have also now scored in all of their last fourteen games. TOTTENHAM won 3-2 away to WEST HAM after going three goals up. Tottenham are now on 21 goals while West Ham are now on 18. ARSENAL drew 2-2 at home to Southampton and they are now on 28 goals while EVERTON lost 2-0 at home to Norwich and that is their fifth blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 3-3 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. Sheffield are now on a total of 18 goals while Manchester are now on 22.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are back on top after they won 2-1 at home against SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. West Brom are now on 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. Wednesday picked up goal number 23. LEEDS UNITED are in second place after they won 2-1 away to LUTON. Leeds are now on 28 goals while Luton are now on 29. PRESTON are now in third place after they lost 1-0 away to DERBY. Preston picked up their fourth blank of the season while Derby picked up their 20th goal of the season. Fulham are still in fourth place after their win on Friday night with NOTTINGHAM FOREST in fifth place. They drew 0-0 away to Bristol City to pick up their third blank of the season. BLACKBURN won 3-2 at home to bottom of the table BARNSLEY to take them up to 27 goals while Barnslay are now on 18 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. BRENTFORD are now on 23 goals as they win 1-0 at home against Reading. CARDIFF drew 2-2 away to Charlton and they are now on a total of 25 goals. STOKE win their fourth league game as they beat Wigan 2-1 at home. Stoke are now on 23 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 2-2 at home to Hull and they are now on 17 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH are now in second place as they drew 2-2 at home to BLACKPOOL. Ipswich are now on a total of 30 goals. Blackpool are now on 32 goals. PETERBOROUGH are now in third place as they win 1-0 at home to Burton. Borough are now on 43 goals. ROTHERHAM are now in fourth place after they won 3-2 away to MK DONS after they went two goals down in the first 15 minutes of play. Rotherham are now on 35 goals with ten goals in their last four games. The Dons after a two game dry spell are now on 21 goals. It’s 30 for PORTSMOUTH after they won 3-0 away to Rochdale. SOUTHEND picked up their eight blank after they lost 4-0 at home to Oxford Utd. Southend have now score just one goal in their last four games. SUNDERLAND drew 1-1 at home to Coventry and that was goal number 32 for them. DONCASTER lost 1-0 away to Wycombe and that is their fifth blank score sheet.

LEAGUE TWO
FOREST GREEN ROVERS are still in second place after they won 4-2 away to LEYTON ORIENT. Rovers are now on 28 goals while Orient are now on 27. OLDHAM won 1-0 away to Newport County and they are now on 23 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 at home to BRADFORD and they are now on 32 goals while Bradford picked up goal number 26. SALFORD CITY picked up their sixth blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to Macclesfield. SCUNTHORPE won 2-1 at home to Port Vale and they are now on 26 goals. MANSFIELD lost 1-0 away to Swindon and that is their seventh blank score sheet and now two in a row.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the third round of the WILLIAM HILL CUP, we had Falkirk through to the next round And they will now be joined with RITH ROVERS who beat PETERHEAD 1-0 at home. Rovers now on a total of 33 goals while Peterhead are out with their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. They have scored just four goals in their last six games.
In the Premiership, CELTIC are still top on goal difference as they win 4-0 at home to Livingston. Celtic are now over half way to the magic 100 goals with 52. RANGERS keep up the pressure as they win 3-1 away to Hamilton. Rangers are now on a total of 45 goals and a goal run of eleven games. HEARTS lost 3-0 away to Kilmarnock to pick up their seventh blank score sheet.

Our Best team is LIVERPOOL this week after they still have a 100% scoring record after fifteen games. They have a total of 37 goals which gives them an average score of 2.5 goals per game.

Our worst team is MK DONS again this weekend as they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets in twenty-two games played. The Dons have scored four goals in their last thirteen games. They have a total of 21 goals.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

GUY DOWSETT has now stayed at the top for four weeks after he picked up just six goals at the weekend. Guy has now been at the top for a total of sixteen weeks over the season.  Guy has the combination of Celtic, Cove Rangers and Manchester City. But Guy’s lead has been reduced to just one goal in front of  Mike Liddle in second place. Mike picked up a total of nine goals this week with two of them coming from midweek. Mike’s combination is Celtic, Manchester City. and Peterborough.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their eleventh consecutive weekend there. The Saint picked up six goals all coming from the weekend.  They have Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
