Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition we had our thirty-first winner of the season who won on a score of just 9 goals. Our winner is our 2016/17 Champion JOHN WOOD and he takes home the full Jackpot Cash Prize Money of £6.
John started with Golden Goals back in our 1997/98 Season on where he finished in 87th place with 209 goals. John became our 34th Champion when he won and with a total of 344 goals, John is in third place in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 120th place with 240 goals but he did have three weekend wins picking up over £18 in cash. This season john has had just two blank score sheets and his highest position to date is 50th place in Week Two. His best team is Celtic. I would like to thank John and his family for their support over the years. Here is our winner combination

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All but ten of us managed to pick up some more goals this week but just one of us managed to pick up the most amount of goals with ten. They belong to our 2007/08 Champion RICKY WOOD and he is now on a total of 67 midweek goals. They came from Celtic with five goals Sunderland three and two from West Brom.
There are now a total of 112 players that now are on a total of 50 or more midweek goals this week as another six reached the halfway mark this week.
This week we still have ANDY EYLES leading with a new total of 85 goals. Andy has Celtic, Fulham and Liverpool. In second place with 83 goals we still have MATT DORAN. In third place moving up from four is TOBY BICKNELL with 80 goals. In fourth place we have moving up from five BARBARA BARNES (1) with A&A. CLARK moving up from six both with a total of 79 goals. In joint fifth place both on 78 goals we have PATRICK O’DONAGHUE moving down from three and he is joined with DAVE WOOD coming up from six.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend without a full premier League fixture, the scores are still coming in very low but we all picked up some goals.
We had a total of twelve of our teams without a game and another seven that failed to score any goals. The bad news is that this weekends average score has fallen down from four last weekend to just 3 goals this weekend.
The highest score that we had this weekend was four goals and we had four of our teams that managed that score. They came from ACCRINGTON STANLEY who won 4-3 at home to LINCOLN CITY and they are now on a total of 46 goals. Lincoln are now on 45. ARSENAL won 4-0 at home to NEWCASTLE and they are now on a total of 49 goals while Newcastle picked up their tenth blank of the season.  IPSWICH TOWN won 4-1 at home to Burton and they have taken their goals tally up to 50 after a two game dry spell for goals. QUEENS PARK RANGERS won 4-2 at home to STOKE and after a three game dry spell for goals, Rangers are now on a total of 60 goals while Stoke are now on 45.

PREMIER LEAGUE
Champions LIVERPOOL are still top as they win 1-0 away to bottom of the table Norwich. Liverpool have now scored in all of their last twelve games and they are now on a total of 72. They are now twenty-five points in front of Manchester City in second place but City do have a game in hand. TOTTENHAM won 3-2 away to ASTON VILLA and they are now on a total of 50 goals while Villa are now on 53 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are still on top after they drew 2-2 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. West Brom have taken their goals total to 62 while Forest are now on 49 and now in fifth place in the league. LEEDS UNITED are still in second place after they won 1-0 at home to Bristol City. Leeds are now on a total of 53 goals.
In the Play-Offs, we still have all four teams with FULHAM still in third place as they lost 3-0 at home to the bottom of the table BARNSLEY. As Fulham picked up their ninth blank of the season, Barnsley are now on a total of 45 goals. BRENTFORD have moved up to fourth place after they drew 1-1 away to BIRMINGHAM. Brentford have taken their goals tally up to 56 goals while Birmingham hit goal number 46. PRESTON are still in sixth place after they lost 1-0 at home to Millwall. Preston picked up their eleventh blank score sheet after a goal run of seven games.
Meanwhile CARDIFF drew 2-2 at home to Wigan and they have extended their goal run to nine games with a total of 58 goals. BLACKBURN ROVERS won 2-0 away to Charlton and they are now on 53 goals while DERBY drew 1-1 at home to HUDDERSFIELD. Derby are now on 47 goals to Huddersfields 38. LUTON won 1-0 away to MIDDLESBROUGH and they are now on 45 goals while Middlesbrough picked up their tenth blank of the season. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked up their ninth blank and now two in a row after they lost 3-0 at home to Reading..

LEAGUE ONE
ROTHERHAM are still on top after they drew 2-2 at home to AFC Wimbledon. Rotherham are now on a total of 69 goals and they have now scored in all of their last thirteen games.
In the Play-Offs, we have three of the four teams with PETERBOROUGH are down to fourth place after they lost 2-1 away to Fleetwood. Borough are now on a total of 73 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. SUNDERLAND are now in fifth place after they won 1-0 away to Oxford Utd. That was their 51st goal of the season. PORTSMOUTH have moved down to sixth place after they won 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury and have now taken their goals tally to 60.
Meanwhile it’s 50 goals for BLACKPOOL as they lost 2-1 away to Bristol Rovers. It’s also 50 goals for DONCASTER as they lost 2-1 away to Gillingham. SOUTHEND picked up their eleventh blank score sheet and now two in a row after they lost 2-0 at home to Coventry.

LEAGUE TWO
We still have just one team in the Play-Offs again this week as  PLYMOUTH remain in fourth place after they won 2-1 at home to Crewe. Plymouth are now on a total of 59 goals.
Meanwhile BRADFORD CITY lost 2-1 away to Cambridge Utd and that is goal number 42 for them. LEYTON ORIENT lost 2-1 away to Cheltenham and they are now on 44 goals. MANSFIELD won 1-0 at home to Newport and they are now on 49 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. OLDHAM drew 1-1 at home to FOREST GREEN ROVERS and they are now on 41 goals and a goal run of seven games while Rovers picked up goal number 47 and they have scored in all of their last nine games. SALFORD CITY picked up gaol number 46 as they win 1-0 away to Stevenage.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Premiership, CELTIC won 2-1 away to Aberdeen and now must be Champions as they take their goals tally up to 97. Celtic are now ten points in front of RANGERS as they win 1-0 at home to Livingston. Rangers are now on 74 goals. HEARTS drew 2-2 at home to Hamilton and they are now on a total of 43 goals.
In League One, PETERHEAD was the only team to play this weekend and they lost 1-0 away to East Fife to pick up their ninth blank score sheet of the season.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are still top and now six points clear as they win 2-1 at home to Edinburgh City. Rangers are now on a total of 67 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR won 1-0 at home against Albion and they are now on 36 goals.

Our on form team this weekend is CELTIC after they have scored in all of their last twenty-three games. They have a total of 97 goals which gives them an average score of 2.9 goals per game.

Our worst team this week are HEARTS. They have picked up a total of fourteen blank score sheets in thirty-six games played. They have a total of 41 goals and just one vote.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

This weekend we have MIKE LIDDLE back at the top after he picked up a total of 12 goals for the week. Mike has now been at number one for five weeks over the season. Mikes teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Peterborough. Bradley Clark has moved back down to second place. Bradley picked up a total of 8 goals this week from his combination of Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, as he picks up a total of just three goals all coming from the weekend. This now means that The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty-two weeks. His teams are Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
