Week Twenty-Seven


In Week Twenty-Seven of the competition we have had another two winners who won on a score of 11 goals each and shared the Jackpot Cash Prize Money of £6. Both of our winners are first time winners this season and it now brings our winners total up to 30. They are ANDY EYLES and PHIL FRANCKSEN.
Andy has been with the competition for sixteen seasons and I thank him for his continued support over the years. Andy first started in the 2004/05 Season on where he finished in in the winning frame in 25th place with a total of 275 goals. Last season he finished in 66th place with 289 goals. This season, Andy has been as high as 21st place in Week Four and he has picked up three blank score sheets. His best team is Celtic.
Phil started with Golden Goals last season where he finished in 105th place with 258 goals and he picked up one weekend win of £6. This season Phil has been as high as 39th place in Week One and has also picked up three blank score sheets to date. His best team is also Celtic. Here is our winners combinations

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All but four players managed to pick up some more goals this week but just one of us managed to pick up the most amount of goals with nine. They were GEOFF CARTHY and he is now on a total of 60 midweek goals. They came from Celtic three and six goals from Derby from their two midweek games. Manchester City failed to get him and the rest of us any goals. There are now a total of ninety-seven players that now are on a total of 50 or more midweek goals this week as another seventeen reached the halfway mark this week.
PATRICK O’DONAGHUE has remained in the lead now with a total of 76 goals. Patrick picked up the two goals from Liverpool. His other teams are Fulham and Manchester City. In second place we have ANDY EYLES with 74 goals. Moving up to third place on 73 goals we have MATT DORAN from fifth place last week. In fourth place we still have PHIL REEVE with a total of 71 goals. In fifth place all on 70 goals we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) and TONY GUY (1) but they are now joined with TOBY BICKNELL coming back into the race.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we had just three of our teams without a game and another twelve that failed to score any goals. The bad news is that this weekends average score fell from six goals of last weekend to just 4 goals this weekend. There were seven players that picked up another blank score sheet of the season.
The highest score that we had this weekend came from the Championship where BRENTFORD won 5-1 away to Hull after a three game dry spell for goals. Brentford have taken their goals tally up to 51.

PREMIER LEAGUE
Champions LIVERPOOL are now twenty-two points in front as they win again 4-0 at home to Southampton. Liverpool have still lost just one league game but they have now scored in all of their last ten games and they are now on a total of 70 goals. Ten men MANCHESTER CITY lost 2-0 away to fourth place TOTTENHAM. City have had a bad week as they picked up their third blank of the season after a goal run of twenty-one games and have now failed to score in their last two games. Tottenham are now on a total of 44 goals. LEICESTER CITY are still in third place as they drew 2-2 at home to CHELSEA. Leicester are now on a total of 69 goals and have now scored in all of their last ten games. Chelsea are in fourth place with a total of 55 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED are now in sixth place after they won 1-0 away to Crystal Palace. That is their 32nd goal of the season. ARSENAL picked up their fifth blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to Burnley. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 0-0 at home to WOLVES to get their ninth blank score sheet to Wolves fifth. ASTON VILLA lost 2-1 away to Bornemouth and they are now on 51 goals and have now scored in all of their last eight games. EVERTON won 3-2 away to Watford after going two down. Everton are now on 41 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, WEST HAM are now on 34 goals as they drew 3-3 at home to Brighton and they are now third from bottom. NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 at home to Norwich and that is their ninth blank score sheet and now two in a row.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are still on top as they win 2-0 at home to LUTON to take their goals total to 56. Luton picked up their eleventh blank of the season. LEEDS UNITED are hanging on to second place after they lost 1-0 at home to Wigan. That is their seventh blank score sheet.
In the Play-Off Zone, we have three of the four teams with FULHAM in third place as they win 3-2 at home to HUDDERSFIELD. Fulham after a two game dry spell are now on 47 goals while Huddersfield are on 35. NOTTINGHAM FOREST are in fourth place as they lost 2-1 away to BIRMINGHAM. Forest are now on 45 goals while Birmingham are on 39. Brentford after their win are in fifth place.
Meanwhile BARNSLEY lost 2-1 away to Charlton and they are now on 41 goals while MIDDLESBROUGH are on 34 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to BLACKBURN who are now on 48 goals and a goal run of eight games.PRESTON drew 1-1 at home to Swansea and they hit goal number 51. QUEENS PARK RANGERS lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City and that is their eighth blank of the season. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked up their seventh blank after they drew 0-0 at home to Millwall.

LEAGUE ONE
ROTHERHAM are back on top after they won 3-2 at home to Burton and they are now on a total of 66 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games.
In the Play-Off Zone, PETERBOROUGH are in third place after they won 4-1 away to IPSWICH who are now in fourth place. Borough are now on a total of 64 goals with twelve of them coming from their last four games. Ipswich are now on 46 goals. PORTSMOUTH are in sixth place after they won 2-0 at home to SUNDERLAND. Portsmouth have taken their goals total to 56 while Sunderland picked up their ninth blank score sheet.
Meanwhile ACCRINGTON STANLEY are now on 40 goals as they win 2-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon. DONCASTER lost 2-1 away to Fleetwood and they are now on 43 goals. MK DONS won 2-0 at home to Wycombe and they are now on 37 goals. BLACKPOOL lost 2-1 away to Oxford Utd and that is their 45th goal of the season. SOUTHEND won their third league game of the season after they beat LINCOLN CITY 2-1 at home. Southend are now on 35 goals while Lincoln are on 41.

LEAGUE TWO
PLYMOUTH are still in third place after they won 1-0 at home against Newport to take their goals tally to 54 and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. We do not have any teams in the Play-Off Zone this week.
Meanwhile SCUNTHORPE lost 3-1 away to Crawley and that is goal number 41 for them. FOREST GREEN ROVERS are now on 43 goals as they drew 2-2 away to Grimsby. MANSFIELD drew 2-2 at home to Carlisle and they are now on 46 goals. OLDHAM won 3-0 at home to BRADFORD CITY and they are now on 38 goals while Bradford picked up their ninth blank and now just one goal in their last four games. SALFORD CITY drew 1-1 away to Port vale and they are now on 43 goals. It’s 40 goals for LEYTON ORIENT after they won 3-0 away to Stevenage.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Premiership, CELTIC remain at the top after they won 4-1 away to Hamilton after going a goal down. Celtic are now on a total of 83 goals and they have extended their goal run to nineteen games. RANGERS drew 0-0 at home to Aberdeen and that is their third blank of the season after they had scored in all of their last eight games. Rangers are now seven points behind Celtic with a game in hand. HEARTS drew 3-3 away to St Johnstone and they are now on a total of 38 goals.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still there as they win 1-0 away to Airdrie. Rovers are now on a total of 50 goals. FALKIRK are still in second place after they drew 1-1 away to Stranraer. Falkirk are on 57 goals. PETERHEAD lost 4-3 away to Montrose and they are now on a total of 32 goals and they have extended their goal run to nine games.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are still top and now six points clear as they drew 2-2 away to Albion. Rangers are now on a total of 65 goals and they have now scored in all of their last thirteen games. STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-0 away to Annan and they are now on 33 goals.

Our on form team this weekend is PORTSMOUTH after they have scored in all of their last twenty games. They have a total of 56 goals which gives them an average score of 1-6 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is MK DONS They have picked up a total of thirteen blank score sheets in thirty-three games played. They have a total of 37 goals and two votes.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

It’s all change at the top again this week as BRADLEY CLARK moves back up to first place. Bradley picked up a total of 13 goals this week with eight of them coming at the weekend. This is now Bradley’s second week there. He has Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City. BARBARA BARNES (1) moves back down to second place. Barbara picked up a total of 10 goals this week from her combination of Celtic, Leicester City and Manchester City.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, as he picks up a total of three goals for the week. This now means that The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty weeks. His teams are once again Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
