Week Thirty-Four

In Week Thirty-Four of the competition we had just the one winner to pick up the full £6 Weekend Jackpot, winning on a score of 7 goals. They are RYAN FC who picks up his second win of the season. Ryan FC last won back in Week Fifteen taking the full amount. He has picked up a total of five blank score sheets and 39th is still his highest position to date. His winning teams are 

HEARTS 3, PORTSMOUTH 1, SUNDERLAND 3

100 MIDWEEK GOALS

All but one of us picked up some goals this week as we are now looking at beating that highest midweek score of 136 goals set by Daryl Nicholls in the 2016/17 Season. This week we now have a total of 23 players that are on or over the 100 goals mark. In the lead this week we now have MICHAEL JACOBSON with Bournemouth, Celtic and Manchester City with a total of 115 goals. SANSA-CLARA-LYANNA with Brentford, Manchester City and Watford and DEAN ZANIOUS with Brentford, Manchester City and Oxford United both down to second place with a total of 113 goals each. EMMA NEWMAN is now in third place with a total of 112 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had fifty-five of our teams that played over the weekend and out of them, fourteen failed to score any goals. Well it seems that our teams play betterin midweek than they do at the weekends. We had another really rubbish weekend for goals as four players failed to pick up any goals this weekend. The average score for this weekend went up slightly from one goal last weekend to just 2 goals this weekend.

The highest score that we had over the weekend was just three goals once again and we had seven teams that picked them up. They came from ACCRINGTON STANLEY, HEARTS, LUTON, MIDDLESBROUGH, NORWICH, OXFORD UNITED and SUNDERLAND. 

Carabao League Cup Final

We had both teams in the final and they were MANCHESTER CITY and TOTTENHAM. But the first piece of silver wear for this season went to Manchester City by winning 1-0 with a very late goal in the 82nd minute. The goal takes City’s goal tally to 92 while Tottenham after a ten game goal run, picked up their seventh blank of the season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We had just nine of our teams in action here over the weekend. MANCHESTER UNITED in second place drew 0-0 away to LEEDS UNITED. United after a goal run of six games, picked up their ninth blank of the season while Leeds picked up their tenth. CHELSEA have moved into fourth place after they won 1-0 away to WEST HAM who are now in fifth place. Chelsea are on a total of 69 goals as West Ham picked up their seventh blank score sheet. LIVERPOOL are in sixth place as they drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle. Liverpool are on a total of 68 goals. BRIGHTON picked up their thirteenth blank and now three games in a row as they lost 1-0 away to bottom of the table Sheffield United, who are now relegated. ASTON VILLA drew 2-2 at home to WEST BROM and they are on a total of 53 goals while West Brom are on 37. WOLVES got hammered 4-0 at home to Burnley and that is their thirteenth blank of the season. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Champions NORWICH  won 3-1 away to QPR and they have taken their goal tally to 72 goals. WATFORD are still in second place and they are promoted after they won 1-0 at home to Millwall. Watford picked up goal number 63.

In the Play-offs we still have three of the four teams here with BRENTFORD going back in to third place after they won 1-0 away to BOURNEMOUTH in fourth place. Brentford are on 85 goals while Bournemouth after a goal run of six games, picked up blank number ten. SWANSEA are down to fifth place as they drew 2-2 away to READING. Swansea are on 62 goals this week while Reading are on 61.

Meanwhile ROTHERHAM lost 1-0 away to Barnsley and that is their seventeenth blank of the season. CARDIFF won 2-1 at home against Wycombe and they are on a total of 61 goals. PRESTON won 1-0 away to Coventry and that is goal number 52 for them. DERBY lost 2-1 at home to BIRMINGHAM and they are on 33 goals to Birmingham’s total of 35. MIDDLESBROUGH won 3-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and that has taken their goals total up to 59. NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 1-1 at home to STOKE and they are on 38 goals and Stoke are on a total of 52 goals. BRISTOL CITY lost 3-2 at home to LUTON and they are on 55 goals while Luton take theirs to 45. 

LEAGUE ONE

HULL are still top and are promoted this weekend after they won 2-1 away to LINCOLN CITY. Hull are now on a total of 82 goals and have extended their goal run to thirteen games. Lincoln City are on 79 goals. PETERBOROUGH are four points behind Hull in second place as they win 1-0 away to CHARLTON. Borough are on a total of 77 goals as Charlton picked up their eleventh blank of the season.  

In the Play-offs we again have three of the four teams. They are SUNDERLAND in third place after they drew 3-3 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Sunderland are now on a total of 66 goals and Accrington are now on a total of 60 goals. Lincoln City are still in fourth place with OXFORD UNITED have moved up to fifth place after they won 3-1 at home to PLYMOUTH. Oxford are now on a total of 73 goals and have now scored in all of their last eight games. Plymouth picked up goal number 64.

Meanwhile, PORTSMOUTH have given their change of a play-off place as they win 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers. Portsmouth are on a total of 72 goals. CREWE drew 1-1 at home to Rochdale and they are on a total of 55 goals. FLEETWOOD TOWN are on 52 goals after they won 1-0 away to Doncaster. WIGAN drew 1-1 at home to Burton and they are on a total of 54 goals. SWINDON are relegated this weekend after they lost 5-0 away to MK Dons. That is Swindon's sixteenth blank of the season. 

LEAGUE TWO

CHELTEHAM are now back to the top after they won 1-0 at home to Colchester. Cheltenham are on a total of 66 goals. BOLTON are still in third place as they win 1-0 away to Morecambe. Bolton are on a total of 57 goals.

In the Play-offs we still have just one team of the four and they are TRANMERE. They are still in fifth place after they won 1-0 at home to Barrow. Tranmere are on a total of 58 goals.

Meanwhile HARROGATE TOWN drew 1-1 away to Carlsile and they are on a total of 49 goals. EXETER drew 0-0 at home to Newport and that is their fifteenth blank and now three games in a row without a goal. SALFORD CITY won 2-0 at home to Mansfield and they are on a total of 52 goals. SCUNTHORPE lost 2-0 at home to Walsall and they have now had a total of eighteen blanks this season and now two in a row. SOUTHEND won their ninth league game 2-1 at home to Leyton Orient. Southend are second from bottom and they are on a total of 29 goals after failing to score in their previous three games. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP Fifth Round we had three teams still in this competition. But all three are now out. MOTHERWELL drew 2-2 after extra time but then lost 4-2 on penalties against Hibernian. Motherwell are on a total of 43 goals and have extended their goal run to eight games. ABERDEEN lost 3-0 at home against Dundee utd. Aberdeen picked up their sixteenth blank of the season. RANGERS drew 1-1 at home to St Johnston after extra time and then went on to lose 4-2 on penalties. Rangers picked up goal number 94.

In the Championship Champions HEARTS won 3-0 at home to Inverness CT and they are now on a total of 67 goals.

In League One with these crazy play-offs, FALKIRK are now down to second place after they drew 2-2 at home to COVE RANGERS. Falkirk are on a total of 39 goals while Rangers have taken their goals total to 31 goals. 

In League Two play-offs, STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-0 at home to Cowdenbeath to pick up their seventh blank of the season. 

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals. They are 

RANGERS (94) MANCHESTER CITY (92) BRENTFORD (85) Total of 271 goals 

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE 

             SOUTHEND (29) FULHAM (30) COVE RANGERS (31) Total of 90 goals 

Our Best team this week are still RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last thirty-six league/cup games. They have scored a total of 94 goals which now gives them an average score of 2.2 goals per game. 

Our worst team this weekend is SOUTHEND who have scored just five goals in their last fourteen games played. 

SOUTHEND have also picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with twenty-six after forty-six games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 9-0 win at home against Southampton in the league in Week Twenty-Three.  

STEVE REEVE has remained at the top again this weekend as I picked up a total of 7 goals for the week. It’s now twelve weeks in a row at the top for me this week. My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. But I have remained in 37th place in our Champions League this week. Michael Fisher is still in second place as he picked up 5 goals for the week. Michael is now seven goals behind me this week. His teams are Manchester City Manchester United and Rangers.

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for eighteen consecutive weeks. Johns teams picked him up a total of 5goals from his combo of Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom.
