Week Thirty-One

In Week Thirty-One of the competition we had two players that picked up the highest score with nine goals each. They are MATT DORAN and MARK JOHNSTON. Matt has Chelsea 2, Manchester City 2 and Motherwell 5. Mark has Liverpool 3, Manchester City 2 and Rangers 4. But there were no winners again this weekend due to the Easter fixture over the weekend, so the prize money has been Rolled over to next week for our first double Rollover worth £18. We have had a total of 31 winners to date this season.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS

Over half of us picked up some goals this week as we are now looking at beating the highest midweek score of 136 goals by Daryl Nicholls in the 2016/17 Season. We are also looking to beat the number of players to reach 100 midweek goals in a season. Last season we had a record breaking 51 players that reached the 100 or more midweek goals. This week we now have a total of nine players that are on or over 100 goals. In the lead to get their names in the record books are RAYMOND HARROD with Brentford, Celtic and Manchester City and SANSA-CLARA-LYANNA with Brentford, Manchester City and Watford. Both are on a total of 106 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just twenty-two of our teams that played over the weekend and out of them, seven failed to score any goals. The good news means that only three players failed to pick up any goals so the average score for this weekend shot up from a flat zero last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. The highest score that we had over the weekend was five goals and they came from MOTHERWELL and WEST BROM.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Champions MANCHESTER CITY are now 14 points in front of their rivals as they win 2-0 away to LEICESTER CITY. City have taken their goals tally up to 88 goals while Leicester picked up their seventh blank of the season after a goal run of eight games and are in third place. MANCHESTER UNITED are in second place after they went a goal down at home to BRIGHTON but then won 2-1. United are on a total of 72 goals as Brighton picked up goal number 42. CHELSEA are in fourth place as they lost 5-2 at home to WEST BROM. Chelsea are on a total of 63 goals while West Brom picked up their biggest win of the season and are now on a total of 32 goals. TOTTENHAM are in fifth place as they drew 2-2 away to Newcastle. It’s 70 goals for Tottenham and they have extended their goal run to seven games. LEEDS won 2-1 at home to Sheffield United and they are on a total of 48 goals.  LIVERPOOL won 3-0 away to ARSENAL and they are now on a total of 64 goals as Arsenal picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet. ASTON VILLA won 3-1 at home to FULHAM and they are now on a total of 49 goals to Fulham’s total of 29.

CHAMPIONSHIP

BRENTFORD have moved up to third place after they drew 1-1 away to Huddersfield. Brentford are on a total of 78 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

SOUTHEND lost 2-0 at home to Carlisle and that is their twenty-third blank of the season and now just two goals in their last nine games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round, we had seven of the eight Scottish teams that we have this season in this round. The good news is that four have made it through to the next round. They are RANGERS who won 4-0 at home to COVE RANGERS. Rangers are now on a total of 88 goals while Cove Rangers picked up their fifth blank of the season. CELTIC are  also there as they win 3-0 at home to FALKIRK. Celtic are now on a total of 69 goals while Falkirk picked up their fifth blank of the season. ABERDEEN won 1-0 away to Dumbarton and that is their 35th goal of the season after failing to score in their last three games. MOTHERWELL picked up their highest score of the season after they won 5-0 away to non-league teams Formartine United. Motherwell are now on a total of 38 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR go out after they lost 4-0 at home to Kilmarnock to pick up their fifth blank and now two in a row.

In the Championship top of the table HEARTS drew 0-0 away to Dunfermline and that is now their third blank score sheet..

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals. They are

MANCHESTER CITY (88)  RANGERS (88) BRENTFORD (78) Total of 254 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

COVE RANGERS (25) SOUTHEND (26) STENHOUSEMUIR (26) Total of 77 goals

Our Best team this week are RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last thirty-two league/cup games. They have scored a total of 88 goals which gives them an average score of 2.3 goals per game.

Our worst team this weekend is ABERDEEN who have scored just two goals in their last eleven games played.

SOUTHEND have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with twenty-three after forty-one games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 9-0 win at home against Southampton in the league in Week Twenty-Three.

STEVE REEVE has remained at the top this weekend as I managed to pick up a total of seven goals all coming from the weekend. It’s now nine weeks in a row at the top for me this week. My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. Michael Fisher is still in second place as he picked up eight goals at the weekend. Michael is now six goals behind me this week. His teams are Manchester City Manchester United and Rangers.

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for fifteen consecutive weeks. Johns teams picked him up a total of six goals from his combo of Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom.

No change really in the top ten this week.
