Week Thirty-Seven

In Week Thirty-Seven of the competition we did not have any prize money due to the Easter fixtures. But we did have a total of five players that picked up this Easter weekend highest score of 8 goals each. They are CHRIS DICKER, GUY DOWSETT (2),  ANDY EYLES, MICHAEL FISHER and GRAHAM PHILLIPS. The good news is that the cash will be back next weekend with our sixth Rollover of the season of £10.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

We had a slight change in the running order as as over half of us picked up some more goals this week. The race is now to see how many of us can get to that 100 or more midweek goals and to beat the best midweek score of 136 goals which is currently held by Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. JASON COOPER picked up the most amount of midweek goals with a total of 7 goals. They came from his combo of Exeter City, Hull City and Oxford United.

LYANNA GRIMWOOD is still the only player with 100 goals  as she now takes her total up to 110 goals. Her teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. BOB SOPER is still second now with a total of 99 goals. In third place is we still have LOUIE HARRINGTON, KEAMUS SETNA, COLIN WEBB and JAMIE WOOD. All are  now on a total of 93 goals. In fourth place with 89 goals we now have CHRIS BOLBERY. In fifth place we now have on a total of 88 goals MANGO (Paul Moran) and PETER WELLARD with PETER PORTER coming back in to the race.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just twenty-one of our teams in action this weekend and out of the ones that did play, only four failed to score any goals. But what we had left playing was worth all the while. Although our average score over the weekend went down from six goals from last weekend back to 4 goals this weekend is a real surprise. The highest score we had was four goals and they came from STENHOUSEMUIR.  They won 4-1 at home to Albion and they are now on a total of 55 goals.

Stenhousemuir from the Scottish league two became our 8th Scottish team to be voted in to the competition. They scored a total of 56 goals in their first appearance in the 1985/86 Season. Their highest score came in the 2012/13 Season with a total of 72 goals. In the Covid season last year they finished on a total of 34 goals. This is their fifteenth season with Golden Goals and over that time, they have scored a total of 818 goals. That gives them an average score of 54 goals per season to date.

We had all four of the teams left in this round. Out of them two have made it to the finals and they are LIVERPOOL who won 3-2 against MANCHESTER CITY. He has now beaten Alec Short total of 280 goals from the 1988/89 and Adam Porter’s total of  284 goals in our 2006/07 Season. Julia Wood has remained in second place this weekend after she picked up a total of 7 goals from her combination. Her teams are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his 31st consecutive weekend at the bottom and now thirty-three over the season. Ziggy picked up a total of four goals at the weekend. There is also good news for Ziggy as he has now started to move up our Losers League. Ziggy has beaten our lowest score of 131 goals in our Covid season of 2020/21 by John Nicholls. Ziggy teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.
