Week Thirty-Six

In Week Thirty-Six of the competition we had our 34th winner of the season collecting the full £5 weekend prize money on a score of 15 goals. Our winner is STEVE STUBBS as he picks up our second highest score of the season. Julia Wood holds this season’s record with 16 goals in Week Twelve. Steve started with us back in the 1995/96 Season but unfortunately we do not have the final sheet for that season.  The last time that he finished in the wining frame was back in the 2014/15 Season in 25th place with 271 goals. Last season Steve finished in 73rd place with a total of 244 goals. This season Steve has kept on the first page and this weekend is his highest. He has picked up a total of five blank weekend score sheets and this his his person best score to date. His best team is Liverpool. The winning teams are

CELTIC 7, CHELSEA 6, LIVERPOOL 2

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

We had a slight change in the running order as forty-six players picked up some goals this week. The race is now to see how many of us can get to that 100 or more midweek goals and to beat the best midweek score of 136 goals which is currently held by Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. TONY KING picked up the most amount of midweek goals with six. They came from his combo of Rangers, West Brom and Wycombe.

LYANNA GRIMWOOD is still the only player with 100 goals  as she now takes her total up to 106 goals. Her teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. BOB SOPER is still second now with a total of 98 goals. In third place is we still have LOUIE HARRINGTON and KEAMUS SETNA but they are now joined with COLIN WEBB and JAMIE WOOD moving up from fourth place all are on a total of 90 goals. In fourth place with 87 goals we now have MANGO (Paul Moran) and PETER WELLARD both up from five. In fifth place we still have CHRIS BOLBERY on a total of 86 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but one of our teams in action this weekend and out of the ones that did play,  fourteen failed to score any goals. But what a fantastic weekend we had and they don’t come round offend enough. The good news is that our average score over the weekend shot up from four goals from last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. The highest score we had was seven goals and they came from CELTIC.  They won 7-0 at home to St Johnstone to score their biggest result of the season. Celtic are now on a total of 96 goals and a goal run of six games. They are now our sixth team to hit seven goals in a game this season.

Celtic became our second most voted Scottish team in our very first season of 1983/83. In that season they finished on a total of 116 goals. Their highest score came in the 2016/17 Season with 134 goals. Celtic have finished with 100 or more goals in nineteen of their seasons. They are just one of four teams that have been in Golden Goals right from the start with the full thirty-nine seasons. Last season they finished on a total of 81 goals. Celtic have score a total of 3793 goals to date and that now gives them an average score of 97 goals per season. They have a total of just nine votes this season.

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of twenty-three blank score sheets out of a total of forty-five league/cup games.

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are now CELTIC who won 7-0 at home to St Johnston in the league in Week Thirty-Six. OXFORD UNITED won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

STEVE STUBBS has moved up to the top after he picked up a total of 15 goals all coming from  the weekend. Steve now becomes the 9th player to hit the number one spot. His teams are Celtic, Chelsea and Liverpool. The good news for Steve that he  has moved up the table in our Champions League  to 35th place. He has now beaten Geoff Dockerill's total of 274 goals in the 194/95 and Robert Hough also with 274 goals in our 1990/91 Season.  He has also moved above Mike Harrington/David Salmon’s score of 276 goals from the 1997/98 Season. Julia Wood has remained in second place this weekend after she picked up a total of 10 goals from her combination. Her teams are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
