Week Three

Here we are with Week Three of the competition and this weekend we had our third winner of the season to pick up the full £5 prize money. They are BARRY BURROUGHS (1) who won on a score of 11 goals which is the highest so far this season. Barry has been with us since the 2010/11 Season where he finished in the winning frame in 20th place on a total of 284 goals. He also picked up one shared weekend win. He also finished in the winning frame in the following season in 14th place with a total of 286 goals. Last season he finished in 94th place with combo 1 with 235 goals and in 109th with combo 2 with 193 goals. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Who is in the lead for our 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot worth a total of £40 this season. Well not much has changed in the top five but there are a few more that have joined the race for the cash this week.

In the lead after three weeks of football we still have LUCIFER (John Wood) with a total of 18 goals. In second place we have HAYLEY ADKINS with 12 goals. In third place with 10 goals we have DAVID BARRETT and our 2009/10 Champion DAVE SOMERVILLE. In fourth place we now have GUY DOWSETT (1) and GUY DOWSETT (2) both with 7 goals each. In fifth place with a total of 5 goals we now have TONY KING this week. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had another full fixture at the weekend and it’s the best to date. We had just four teams with no game over the weekend with another seventeen of our teams that failed to score any goals. So it’s good news this weekend as the average score was 6 goals. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend.

The Highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from Scottish Premiership CELTIC. They won 5-0 away to Kilmarnock to pick up their biggest result to date. Celtic are on a total of 10 goals. Celtic are one of our original teams from our first season 1983/84 and were our second most voted Scottish team. They finished on a total of 116 goals. Their highest score came in the 2016/17 Season with a total of 134 goals, which is our second highest score on record. Last season they finished on a total of 111 goals and that was the 20th time that they have netted 100 or more goals in 40 Seasons. Over the years they have now netted a total of 3818 goals which gives them an average score of 95 goals per season. They have a total of 26 votes this year and they have won all three of their league games played. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

The Premier League teams have now played their second league game of the season and most of them had a good weekend. MANCHESTER CITY go to the top after they won their second league game 4-0 at home to BOURNEMOUTH. With their biggest result so far, City are now on a total of 6 goals. Bournemouth picked up their first blank of the season. ARSENAL have remained in second place after they won 4-2 at home to LEICESTER CITY. With their biggest result to date, Arsenal are now on a total of 6 goals. Leicester City have taken their total to 4 goals. ASTON VILLA picked up their first goals with a 2-1 home win against EVERTON who are also now on the score sheet. BRIGHTON drew 0-0 at home to NEWCASTLE which means that both teams picked up their first blank score sheets of the season. LEEDS UTD drew 2-2 away to Southampton and they are on a total of 4 goals. FULHAM picked up their first blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Wolves. CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home to London rivals TOTTENHAM to take their goals tally to 3 while Tottenham are on 6 goals. Still no goals from WEST HAM as they lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest. That is their second blank of the season. With their biggest defeat of the season so far, MANCHESTER UTD lost 4-0 away to Brentford. United have failed to pick up any points in their two opening games and a rock bottom of the league. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

The highest team that we have here are Watford in third place. SWANSEA won 1-0 away to Blackpool and that is their 4th goal of the season. HUDDERSFIELD picked up their biggest result as they win 3-1 at home to Stoke. Huddersfield are now on a total of 5 goals. NORWICH lost 2-1 away to Hull and they are on a total of 4 goals. LUTON picked up their second blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 at home to Preston. READING lost 4-0 away to Rotherham and that is their second blank of the season. SUNDERLAND drew 2-2 at home to QPR and they are on a total of 6 goals. WEST BROM lost 2-1 away to top of the table Blackburn Rovers. West Brom and now scored four goals in their four games played. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 2-2 at home to Sheffield Utd and they are on a total of 5 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

IPSWICH are top here now with their second win of the season. they won 3-0 at home against MK DONS. Ipswich with their biggest win of the season are now on a total of 6 goals. MK Dons picked up their third blank of the season. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are in second place after they won 1-0 at home to CHARLTON. Wednesday are on a total of 7 goals while Charlton picked up their first blank of the season. BRISTOL ROVERS won 1-0 at home to OXFORD UTD and are on a total of 6 goals. Oxford picked up their second blank of the season. DERBY won 2-1 at home to Barnsley and they are on a total of 5 goals. LINCOLN CITY drew 1-1 at home to FOREST GREEN and they are on a total of 5 goals. Forest Green have now scored in all of their four games and are on a total of 6 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-0 at home to PETERBOROUGH. Plymouth are on a total of 4 goals while Borough picked up their first blank score sheet. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are SALFORD CITY in third place. They picked up their biggest result as they win 3-0 at home against Crewe. Salford are now on a total of 6 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, AF WIMBLEDON drew 2-2 at home to Doncaster. Wimbledon are on a total of 4 goals. BRADFORD CITY drew 2-2 at home to Newport and they have taken their goals tally to 6 goals. After they had failed to score in their first three games, SWINDON are on the score sheet after they drew 1-1 away to Carlsile. CRAWLEY TOWN drew 0-0 away to Harrogate and that is their third blank score sheet and now just one goal in four games played. MANSFIELD picked up their second as they lost 1-0 away to Leyton Orient. STOCKPORT COUNTY won their first league game 1-0 at home to Colchester. SUTTON UTD won 1-0 at home to Barrow and they are on a total of 3 goals. GILLINGHAM lost 3-0 away to Tranmere and that is their second blank of the season.

 SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC have remained on top and still on goal difference after their 5-0 away win against Kilmarnock. RANGERS are in second place as they also picked up their highest result after they won 4-0 at home to St Johnston. Rangers are on a total of 8 goals. HEARTS are still in third place after they won 4-1 at home to Dundee Utd. Hearts with their biggest result to date are on a total of 7 goals. HIBERNIAN lost 2-1 away to Livingston which takes their goal tally to 13 goals. ABERDEEN lost 3-2 at home to Motherwell. Aberdeen are now on a total of 18 goals.

In League One ALLOA lost 4-2 at home to FC Edinburgh and they are now on a total of 11 goals. KELTY HEARTS lost their third league game 3-0 away to Clyde. Kelty picked up their 5th blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games.

In League Two, new boys BONNYRIGG ROSE moved down to second place the league here after they drew 2-2 away to Stranraer. They have now taken their goals tally to 12 goals and have extended their goal run to seven league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-0 away to Stirling. After a goal run of six league/cup games, they have now picked up their first blank score sheet of the season. 

So lets have a look at our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are 

WEST HAM (0) CRYSTAL PALACE (0) CRAWLEY TOWN (1) Total of 1 goal 

Our Best performing teams are BONNYRIGG ROSE who have now scored in all of their seven cup/league games and are on a total of 12 goals. 

Our worst performing team is KELTY HEARTS this weekend as they have picked up five blank score sheets in their first seven games of the season. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are now CELTIC who won 5-0 away to Kilmarnock in the league in Week Three. ABERDEEN and HIBERNIAN have both picked up five goals each from their League Cup first round group stage. Aberdeen won 5-0 away to Stirling in their third league cup game. Hibernian won 5-0 at home to Clyde in their first league cup game. Both from Week One. 

LUCIFER (John Wood) is now in his third weekend at the top after he picked up a total of 4 goals from the weekend. Lucifer’s teams are Alloa, Bonnyrigg Rose and Stenhousemuir.  Lucifer is still out front from the rest of us and now 6 goals in front of David Barrett who moves back up to second place this weekend collecting a total of 7 goals from Celtic, Hibernian and Sutton Utd.

At the other end at 108 we now have MANDY WRIGHT who becomes our third player to stay there this season as she picked up just 3 goals this week. Mandy has Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham.
