Week Six

Here we are with Week Six of the competition we had three winners to share the £5 Weekend Jackpot this weekend. That now brings our winners total up to ten players. Our winners are BARBARA BARNES (1), BRUCE SELF and STEVE STUBBS and they won on a total of 9 goals each.

Barbara started with Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 Season on where she finished in 85th place with a total of 232 goals. Last season she finished in 68th place with 256 goals combo 1 and 93rd place with 235 goals with combo 2. This season Barbara has picked up one blank score sheet and 62nd is her highest position to date in Week Two.

Bruce started with us back in the 2006/07 Season where he finished in the winning frame in 18th place with a total of 260 goals. He also picked up one shared weekend win. Last season he finished in 85th place with 241 goals. This season he has been as high as 19th place in Week Two.

Steve started with us way back just before the 1986/87 Season. In that season he finished in 90th place with a total of 209 goals. He did manage to pick up a shared weekend win. Last season he finished in the winning frame in 5th place with 325 goals. He also had one weekend win. This season we can see Steve in his highest position to date. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

It was HAYLEY ADKINS and MARK GREGORY that picked up the most goals in midweek with twelve goals each. Hayley’s came from Aberdeen, Liverpool and Manchester City. Mark has Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich. All of us are now on the midweek score sheet with many of us now in double figures. In the lead for our 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot worth a total of £40 is now HAYLEY ADKINS with a total of 26 goals this week. In second place is still STEVE AYRES with 22 goals. In third place with 21 goals each we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion. In fourth place we now have MARK GREGORY and LOUIE HARRINGTON both on a total of 20 goals each. In fifth place we now have NICK HORTON, PETER PORTER, BOB SOPER and TERENCE WARWICK all with 19 goals each. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had another full fixture at the weekend and we had just four teams with no game over the weekend. We had another fifteen of our teams that failed to score any goals. We had a really crazy weekend last week but how it’s changed this weekend. Our average score fell down from thirteen goals last weekend to just 3 goals this weekend. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well again this weekend.

The Highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from the Premier League BRIGHTON who won 5-2 at home against LEICESTER CITY.  With their biggest result of the season, Brighton are now taken their goals tally up to 14 goals and have a goal run of five games. Leicester are on a total of 8 goals. 

Brighton became our 73rd English team to join Golden Goals in the 1989/90 Season where they finished on a total of 62 goals. Their highest score came in the 2016/17 Season with a toatal of 86 goals. Last season they finished with 51 goals. This is their 16th Season with us and over the years they have now netted a total of 1007 goals. This now gives them an average score of 62 goals per season to date. They have just one vote this season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table ARSENAL have lost their first league game of the season as they go down 3-1 away to MANCHESTER UNITED. Arsenal are on a total of 14 goals and have now scored in all of their six games played. United have now won all of their last four games and are now on a total of 8 goals. MANCHESTER CITY are in second place after they drew 1-1 away to ASTON VILLA. City are 1 point behind Arsenal as they take their goals total to 20 goals. Villa pick up goal number 9. LEEDS UTD are on a total of 13 goals after they lost 5-2 away to Brentford. CHELSEA beat London Rivals WEST HAM 2-1 at home. Chelsea are on 8 goals while West Ham are now on 3 goals. EVERTON drew 0-0 at home to LIVERPOOL in their local derby. Everton pick up their 2nd blank of the season while Liverpool after a goal run of five games, get their first. NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. Both have picked up their 2nd blank score sheet of the season. BOURNEMOUTH won 3-2 away to Nottingham Forest. After a two game dry spell for goals, Bournemouth pick up their biggest result of the season and are now on a total of 7 goals. TOTTENHAM won 2-1 at home against FULHAM and are on a total of 12 goals and have now scored in all of their six games. Fulham are on a total of 9 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are back at the top here after they won 2-0 away to Hull. United have taken their goals tally to 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. NORWICH are in second place after they picked up their biggest win of the season by winning 3-0 at home to Coventry. Norwich are now on a total of 16 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. LUTON lost 2-1 at home to Wigan and they are on a total of 9 goals. WATFORD drew 1-1 away to Rotherham and they are on a total of 9 goals. SWANSEA are on 9 goals after they won 1-0 at home to QPR. HUDDERSFIELD lost 1-0 at home to Blackpool and they have now had a total of three blank score sheets and now two in a row. READING won 2-1 at home to Stoke and they have taken their goals total to 10. 

LEAGUE ONE

IPSWICH are back up to first place after they won 2-0 away to Accrington. Ipswich are now on a total of 14 goals and a goal run of five games. CHARLTON lost 3-1 away to Bolton and are on a total of 13 goals and a goal run of five games. BRISTOL ROVERS drew 2-2 at home to Morecambe and they are on a total of 10 goals. LINCOLN CITY lost 2-0 away to Cambridge Utd and that is their 3rd blank of the season. DERBY lost 3-2 at home to PLYMOUTH and they have taken their goals tally up to 10 goals. Plymouth are now on a total of 13 goals and a goal run of five games. MK DONS picked up their 4th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Exeter. FOREST GREEN lost 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury and that is their 4th blank score sheet and now no goals in their last four games. OXFORD UTD won 2-1 at home to Burton and they are on a total of 9 goals. PETERBOROUGH lost 2-1 away to Portsmouth and they are on a total of 16 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 2-0 at home to Barnsley and that is their 2nd blank of the season. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are SALFORD CITY still in fourth place after they drew 2-2 at home to CRAWLEY TOWN. Salford are now on a total of 13 goals and have a goal run of six games. Crawley are on a total of 8 goals. BRADFORD won 2-1 at home to Walsall and they have taken their total up to 12 goals. MANSFIELD have taken their goals tally to 13 as they win 3-1 away to Doncaster. GILLINGHAM drew 0-0 against SWINDON at home and that is their 7th blank score sheet and now six games without a goal. Swindon picked up their 4th blank of the season. STOCKPORT COUNTY won their second league game by winning 1-0 at home against AFC WIMBLEDON. Stockport are on a total of 9 goals while Wimbledon have now failed to score in their last two games with four blank score sheets to date. SUTTON UTD won 2-1 at home to Harrogate and they are on 7 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC have remained on top after they thrashed their rivals RANGERS 4-0 at home. After that it seems that Celtic are already this season’s champions. Celtic are now on a total of  29 goals and still have that 100% scoring record after seven games played. Rangers after a goal run of six games, pick up their first blank of the season. ABERDEEN drew 1-1 away to Ross County and they are now on a total of 29 goals and a goal run of six games. Aberdeen are still in third place. HEARTS in fourth place lost 1-0 away to Livingston. Hearts picked up their third blank score sheet and now two in a row. HIBERNIAN won 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock and they are on a total of 16 goals.

In League One ALLOA won 4-2 away to Clyde and they have taken their goals tally up to 20. KELTY HEARTS won their first league game 2-0 at home against Falkirk. After a three game dry spell for goals, Kelty are on a total of 6 goals.

In League Two, new boys BONNYRIGG ROSE are still in second place after they lost 2-0 away to Elgin. Bonnyrigg pick up their 2nd blank of the season. STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-1 at home to Stranraer and they are on a total of 15 goals. 

So lets have a look at our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are 

GILLINGHAM (3) WEST HAM (3) EVERTON (5) Total of 11 goals 

Our Best performing team are now CELTIC as they have now scored in all of their seven league/cup games played and have a total of 29 goals. That gives them an average score of 4 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up seven blank score sheets out of eight games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are now CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.

MARK GREGORY becomes our third player to reach number one this season after he picked up a total of 20 goals from the week. Mark’s teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.  Mark is just one goal in front of Hayley Adkins who remains in second place this weekend collecting a total of 14 goals this week from Aberdeen, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 108 we still have MANDY WRIGHT who has now been there for four weeks. Mandy picked up seven goals this week with Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham.

More changes in the top ten this week.
