Week Eight

In Week Eight of the competition we had a total of three winners to share the £5 prize money this weekend. All three are first time winners which now brings our winners total to 12 for the season. Our winners won on a score of 13 goals. They are LYANNA GRIMWOOD, SANSA GRIMWOOD and PETER WELLARD.

Lyanna and Sansa started with us in the 2020/21 Season in a joint entry. They finished in 34th place with a total of 267 goals. Since then they have gone solo and last season, Lyanna finished in 37th place with 276 goals and picked up three weekend wins while Sansa finished in the winning frame in13th place with a total of 301 goals. This season Lyanna with her personal best score, has had two blank weekend score sheets and this weekend is her highest to date. Sansa has been as high as 23rd position in Week Two. She has also had two blank weekend score sheets and this is also her personal best score. 

Peter joined Golden Goals back in the 2004/05 Season on where he finished in 57th place with a total of 261 goals and had two weekend wins. Last season Peter finished in 100th place with 212 goals. This season he has been as high as 22nd place in Week Two and picked up just one blank score sheet. This is also his personal best score. Here are our winners teams

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Nearly half of us picked up some goals in midweek, which means that there is yet another slight change in the race for the cash. In the lead we still have our 2015/16 Champion RICHARD WILLIAMS with 27 goals. In second place we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) with a total of 25 goals. Remaining In third place we have BAILEY MORAN with a total of 21 goals. In fourth place now with 18 goals each we still have ANDY EYLES he is now joined with MALCOLM STUBBS down from three and  JAMES SOMERVILLE moving up from five. In fifth place we have GUY DOWSETT (1) and MARK JOHNSTON both down from fourth place with 16 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

For once we had all of our teams in action over the weekend, but nine of our teams failed to score any goals. We had a fantastic weekend of football with plenty of goals. That means that the average score moved up from five last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend.

The Highest score over the weekend was a record braking 8 goals and they came from the Premier League where NEWCASTLE won 8-0 away to Sheffield United. With their biggest result of the season, Newcastle have now doubled their goals total to 16 goals. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table MANCHESTER CITY won 2-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. City have taken their goals total up to 16 goals and they have now scored in all of their six league games played. Forest picked up their second blank of the season. LIVERPOOL are in second place after they won 3-1 at home to WEST HAM. Liverpool have extended their goal run to six games and now have a total of 15 goals. West Ham also keep their 100% scoring record after six games and picked up goal number 11. ARSENAL drew 2-2 against TOTTENHAM and they have also kept their 100% scoring record after six games. Arsenal are on a total of 11 goals. Tottenham have scored in all of their seven league/cup games and are on a total of 16 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 0-0 at home to FULHAM on where both teams picked up their second blank score sheet of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED won their third league game 1-0 away to Burnley. United are on a total of 7 goals. BRIGHTON won 3-1 at home to BOURNEMOUTH and have taken their goals tally to 18 and they have scored in all of their six league games. Bournemouth are on a total of 8 goals. CHELSEA lost 1-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and that is their third blank score sheet in a row. Villa are on a total of 12 goals.  

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEICESTER CITY are top now after they won 1-0 at home to BRISTOL CITY. Leicester are on a total of 18 goals while Bristol picked up their fourth blank score sheet. IPSWICH are now in second place after they picked up their biggest result 4-3 at home to Blackburn. Ipswich have kept their 100% scoring record going after a total of ten league/cup games. They are now on a total of 21 goals. PLYMOUTH won 6-2 at home against NORWICH. Plymouth with their biggest result to date are now on a total of 20 goals and a goal run of seven league/cup games. Norwich are on a total of 19 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 3-0 at home against Watford and they have taken their goals total to 16. MIDDLESBROUGH won 2-1 at home to SOUTHAMPTON and they are on a total of 13 goals while Southampton also picked up goal number 13. SWANSEA won 3-0 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY and they have taken their goals tally to 15. Wednesday picked up their fourth blank score sheet. STOKE lost 3-1 at home to Hull and they are on a total of 16 goals. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 at home to Cardiff City and that is their second blank of the season. 

LEAGUE ONE

BLACKPOOL picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 4-1 at home to READING. Blackpool are now on a total of 10 goals while Reading are on 13 goals. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 away to Bolton and they are on a total of 15 goals and a goal run of six league/cup games. BRISTOL ROVERS also picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 4-1 at home against Wigan. Rovers are now on a total of 12 goals. DERBY won 2-0 away to Carlisle and they are on a total of 14 goals and a goal run of seven league/cup games. BARNSLEY won 2-1 away to Northampton and they have kept their 100% scoring record going after a total of ten league/cup games and now have a total of 22 goals. CHARLTON won 3-1 at home to Wycombe and with their biggest result of the season, are on a total of 12 goals and a goal run of six league/cup games. 

LEAGUE TWO

NOTTS COUNTY are now top of the table this week after they won 4-3 at home to Forest Green. County with their biggest result of the season, are now on a total of 19 goals and a goal run of six league/cup games. SALFORD CITY lost 3-2 away to Harrogate and they are on a total of 14 goals. WREXHAM lost 5-0 away to Stockport and that is their second blank score sheet after a goal run of seven league/cup games. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to MK DONS and picked up goal number 15 while the Dons hit goal number 16 and they have a goal run of eight league/cup games. AFC WIMBLEDON won 3-1 away to Walsall and they are now on a total of 18 goals. They have now scored in all of their last ten league/cup games. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC are still at the top of the table after they won 3-0 away to Livingston. Celtic have taken their goals tally to 14. RANGERS won 1-0 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 11 goals and now up to third place in the league. ABERDEEN picked up their biggest result of the season with a 4-0 home win against ROSS COUNTY. Aberdeen have taken their goals tally to 9 while County picked up their second blank of the season. KILMARNOCK drew 2-2 at home to away to Dundee and they are on a total of 16 goals. HIBERNIAN won 2-0 at home to St Johnston and they have taken their goals total to 13 and a goal run of seven league/cup games.

In League One FALKIRK are still top after they picked up their highest result of the season to date by winning 5-1 away to KELTY HEARTS. Falkirk have now scored in all of their last eight league/cup games and have a total of 28 goals. Kelty are on a total of 19 goals. It’s 20 goals for COVE RANGERS after they drew 2-2 away to Edinburgh City. 

In League Two STENHOUSEMUIR are top of the table this weekend after they won 1-0 away to Bonnyrigg Rose. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 14 goals. EAST FIFE drew 2-2 away to The Spartans and are on a total of 9 goals. CLYDE after they had failed to score in their last three games, won 2-1 at home to Elgin and are on a total of 8 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are 

FULHAM (6) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (7) CHELSEA (7)  Total of 20 goals 

Our Best performing team is BARNSLEY after they have now scored in all of their 10 league/cup games. They have a total of 22 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is BLACKPOOL this weekend as they have picked up six blank score sheets in their 10 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are now NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight.  BARNSLEY pick up our second highest score after they won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One.

RICHARD WILLIAMS our 2015/16 Champion is at the top for his seventh consecutive weekend. Richard picked up a total of 7 goals all from the weekend once again. His teams are Falkirk, Manchester City and Ross County.  He is still way out in front but now 11 goals clear of Andy Eyles who has moved up to second place. Andy picked up a total of 9 goals this week from his teams of  Barnsley, Leicester City and Manchester City.

At the other end at 110 we now have STALKY (1) (Bob Burgin) for his first weekend with his first combination. Bob picked up just 3 goals all from the weekend. His teams are Manchester United, Rangers and West Ham.
