New Year's Day Results

Here are the very first games of 2024 and what a New Years Day fixture it was. We had a total of 27 of our teams in action and we had a few big scores. 

In the Premier League leaders LIVERPOOL won 4-2 at home against NEWCASTLE and they have now taken their goals tally up to 53. Newcastle are on a total of 44 goals. 

In the Championship Top of the table LEICESTER CITY are now 10 points in front after they won 4-1 at home to Huddersfield. City have taken their goals tally to 59 and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. IPSWICH in second place drew 0-0 away to STOKE. Ipswich picked up their 4th blank score sheet and now two in a row. Ipswich have scored just one goal in their last four games. Stoke picked up their 13th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs we have three of the four teams. SOUTHAMPTON are in third place after they drew 1-1 away to NORWICH. Southampton are on a total of 47 goals and have extended their scoring record to 19 league/cup games. Norwich are on a total of 45 goals after they failed to score in their previous two games. LEEDS UNITED are in fourth place as they win 3-0 at home to Birmingham and have taken their goals total to 48. SUNDERLAND are in sixth place after they won 2-0 at home to Preston and they are on a total of 37 goals.  

Meanwhile BRISTOL CITY lost 1-0 at home to Millwall and picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two in a row. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 3-1 at home to Coventry and are on a total of 52 goals. PLYMOUTH drew against Watford and have taken their goals total to 47. It’s 40 goals for SWANSEA after they won 1-0 at home to West Brom. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 3-1 at home to Hull and have taken their goals total to 23. 

In League One the highest teams that we have here are in the Play-offs. They are PETERBOROUGH in third place won 3-2 away to DERBY. Borough are now on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 26 league/cup games. Derby in fourth place are on 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. BARNSLEY are in sixth place as they drew 1-1 at home to Wigan. Barnsley are on a total of 54 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games.

Meanwhile after they had failed to score in their last two games, BLACKPOOL won 2-0 at home to Lincoln City and are on a total of 49 goals. CHARLTON lost 2-1 at home to Oxford Utd and are on a total of 44 goals. READING won 3-2 at home to Exeter and are on a total of 43 goals and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. BRISTOL ROVERS lost 3-2 away to Wycombe and are on a total of 45 goals and have scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. 

In League Two WREXHAM are down to third place after they won 4-1 at home to Barrow. Wrexham have taken their goals tally to 54 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs we have just two of the teams. They are NOTTS COUNTY in fifth place after they lost 4-2 away to Tranmere and are on a total of 60 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. AFC WIMBLEDON are in seventh place as they drew 1-1 away to Forest Green. That is goal number 54 for them.

Meanwhile SALFORD CITY lost 3-0 away to Accrington and picked up their 9th blank score sheet and now two in a row. MK DONS lost 3-0 away to Doncaster and they picked up their 6th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 games. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Newport and they are on a total of 37 goals.
