Week Twenty-Six

In Week Twenty-Six of the competition, we are back to our normal £5 Weekend Jackpot. This weekends winner was LOUIE HARRINGTON winning on a score of 16 goals, which is his personal best score. Louie becomes our 28th winner of the season with our second highest weekend score.

Louie started with Golden Goals back in the 2020/21 season and he finished on a total of 238 goals which left him in 84th place. Last season he finished in 101st place with 256 goals. This season, we see Louie at his highest position this week to date. He has picked up 4 blank weekend score sheets and Rangers are currently his best team. Here are his winners teams.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just under half of us managed to pick up some more goals during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed slightly from last week again. We now have a total of 35 players that are on or over the halfway mark. The highest score went to ROBERT BASSEETT and JAMIE WOOD with a total of 4 goals each. Leading the race this week we still have ALFIE DIMMOCK now on his own as he takes his total to 61 goals. In second place down from being joint leader last week, we have BARBARA BARNES (2) now on a total of 59 goals. In third place we still have PETER WELLARD and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, both with a total of 58 goals. In fourth place we still have CHRIS SETFORD now with a total of 57 goals. In fifth place with a total of 56 goals each, we have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion and down from two MARTIN CORBETT. In sixth place both down from three we have DAVID BARRETT and BARRY BURROUGHS both are on a total of 55 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams without a game this weekend and we had another 14 teams that failed to score any goals. Although we once again had some high scores this weekend, we had a very good weekend on the whole, as the average score came up from four goals of last weekend back up to 7 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done.

The highest score over the weekend was 7 goals, and they came from the Championship where LEEDS UNITED picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 7-0 at home to Cardiff City. Leeds have taken their goals tally up to 61 goals.

Leeds United became our 11th most voted team in our first season of 1983/84. In that season they finished on a total of 65 goals. Their highest score is 97 goals which they did in the 2008/09 and then again in the 2023/24. This is their 37th appearance with us and over the years they have scored a total of 2582 goals which gives them an average score of 69 goals per season to date. This season they have a total of 25 votes and they have picked up 7 blank score sheets. Here are the rest of the weekend results.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table LIVERPOOL won 2-0 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 70 goals and a goal run of 5 games. Bournemouth picked up their 6th blank score sheet after a goal run of 6 games. In second place we have ARSENAL who won 5-1 at home against MANCHESTER CITY and have taken their goals tally up to 61 goals. Arsenal have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. City picked up goal number 59 and hav extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. LEICESTER CITY lost 4-0 away to Everton and that is their 8th blank of the season. NEWCASTLE UNITED lost 2-1 at home to Fulham and picked up goal number 54 and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA lost 2-0 away to Wolves and picked up their 6th  blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. It’s 60 goals for TOTTENHAM after they won 2-0 away to Brentford. They have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 2-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and picked up their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games. Palace are on a total of 39 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON have won their second league game, 2-1 away to IPSWICH TOWN. Southampton are on a total of 31 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Ipswich are on 27 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Leeds United are top of the table after their big win over the weekend. SHEFFIELD UNITED are still in 2nd place after they won 1-0 away to Derby County. United are on a total of 45 goals.

In the Play-offs we now have just one of the 4 teams and they are BURNLEY still in 3rd place as they drew 0-0 away to PORTSMOUTH. Burnley picked up their 13th blank of the season and now 2 in a row. Portsmouth picked up their 14th and have also failed to score in their last 2 league games.

Meanwhile OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Bristol City and are on a total of 37 goals. NORWICH CITY won 1-0 away to Watford and are on a total of 53 goals. MILLWALL won 2-1 at home to QPR and are on a total of 34 goals. LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 31 goals. SWANSEA CITY lost 2-0 at home to Coventry City and that is their 13th blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-1 at home to Rotherham City and are on a total of 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs we have two of the four teams. In 3rd place we still have WREXHAM who won 2-1 away to Crawley Town and are on a total of 45 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN are down to 4th  place after they lost 3-2 away to Northampton Town and are on a total of 46 goals.

Meanwhile  BARNSLEY drew 0-0 at home to Burton and picked up their 9th blank of the season. BOLTON lost 1-0 away to Reading and picked up their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 9 games. It’s 50 goals for  BLACKPOOL and a goal run of 6 games, after they drew 2-2 at home to CHARLTON. Charlton are on a total of 45 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. PETERBOROUGH lost 3-1 away to Bristol Rovers and picked up goals number 53.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have are DONCASTER ROVERS now in 2nd place after they won 2-1 at home to MK DONS and are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. The Dons are on 42 goals. NOTTS COUNTY have moved up to 3rd place after they won 2-1 away to Gillingham. County are now on a total of 56 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs we have just one of the 4 teams. They are AFC WIMBLEDON up to 4th place after they won 1-0 at home to Bradford City. Wimbledon picked up goal number 46.

Meanwhile  CHESTERFIELD lost 1-0 away to Cheltenham Town and picked up their 7th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games. BROMLEY lost 2-0 at home to Grimsby Town and picked up their 6th blank of the season and now 2 in a row.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership top of the league CELTIC won 3-1 away to Motherwell and are now on a total of 86 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games. RANGERS are still in second place after they won 4-0 away to ROSS COUNTY and have taken their goals tally to 66. Rangers have extended their goal run to 19 league/cup games. County picked up their 11th blank of the season after a goal run of 9 league/cup games. HEARTS picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 6-0 away to DUNDEE. Hearts have taken their goals tally up to 38 goals while Dundee, after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their 7th blank of the season. KILMARNOCK won 1-0 at home to Dundee United and are on a total of 29 goals.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are back at the top after they won 3-0 away to Montrose. Stenhousemuir who had failed to score in their previous 3 games, are now on a total of 42 goals. COVE RANGERS have moved in to 2nd place after they won 2-1 at home against Arbroath and are on a total of 43 goals.

In League Two EAST FIFE are still top after they lost 1-0 away to Elgin City and that is their 5th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. PETERHEAD remained in second place after they drew 2-2 at home to Forfar. Peterhead are on a total of 45 goals. After they had failed to score in all of their previous 3 league games, CLYDE lost 2-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of  36 goals.

Our best performing team this weekend are still RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last 19 league/cup games. They have a total of 66 goals which gives them an average score of 2.2 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is now PORTSMOUTH this weekend as they have had a total of 14 blank score sheet from 32 league/cup games. They have a total of 36 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring team that we have in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER CITY after they won 8-0 at home to Salford City in the FA Cup 3rd Round in Week Twenty-Three.

GEOFF DOCKERILL our 1994/95 Champion, is celebrating his 5th weekend at the top after his teams picked him up a total of 10 goals from the weekend. Geoff’s teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Liverpool. Luke Hammond is still in second place, now 6 goals behind Geoff. Luke picked up a total of 5 goals from the weekend and his teams are Celtic, Chelsea and Liverpool.

At the other end at 114 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY with his 12th consecutive weekend. Charlie’s teams picked up just 4 goals again all from the weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

Our top ten has settled down this weekend, so there was not much movement this week.
