League Cup First Round

We have had the first games of the League Cup First Round and we had some great results. Out of the twenty-seven teams that we had in action, fifteen have made it through to the second round.

The highest score of the night went to BIRMINGHAM CITY as they won 5-1 at home to Crawley Town. They are Birmingham’s first goals of the season.

Other teams that went through are BRENTFORD by beating AFC Wimbledon 3-1 after extra time. They are also their first goals for Brentford. DONCASTER won 3-2 away to BRADFORD and are now on the score sheet while Bradford takes their goals total to four this season. CARDIFF won 2-1 at home against PORTSMOUTH after extra time which now gives both teams a total of 3 goals each. BLACKBURN are now on 4 goals as they beat COVENTRY 3-1 away. Coventry are also on 4 goals. After going a goal down, CHARLTON beat EXETER 2-1 away to give them 3 goals and Exeter have two. MK DONS had to beat new boys FOREST GREEN 1-0 after extra time. as the Dons pick up their first goal of the season, Forest Green pick up their first blank score sheet. IPSWICH are now on 3 goals as they win 2-0 away to LUTON. After their eight goals at the weekend, Luton picked up their first blank of the season. NORWICH won 3-2 at home to Swindon and they are now on a total of four goals. QUEENS PARK RANGERS are on three goals after they won 1-0 at home to Northampton. READING have picked up their first goals of the season as they win 2-0 at home to Gillingham. SCUNTHORPE are through after they drew 3-3 after extra time to win 6-5 on penalties against Notts County. Scunthorpe are now on a total of four goals. WIGAN won 2-1 at home to Blackpool and they are now on three goals. WOLVES picked up their second goal of the season as they won 1-0 at home to Yeovil. FULHAM won 2-0 away to Wycombe and they are also on three goals.

Other teams that went out of the cup were PLYMOUTH who lost 5-0 away to Bristol City to pick up their first blank score sheet and FLEETWOOD TOWN are out as they lost 2-1 at home to Carlisle after extra time. Fleetwood are on three goals. MANSFIELD lost 1-0 away to Rochdale and that was their first blank score sheet. PETERBOROUGH may be on three goals but they lost 3-1 at home to Barnet. LINCOLN CITY are out as they lost 2-1 away to Rotherham. Lincoln are on three goals. SOUTHEND picked up their first blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 at home to Newport.
