Week Eleven

In Week Eleven of the competition due to the European Championship games, there was no winner this week but the player who picked up the highest score was DARYL NICHOLLS. Daryl picked up six goals all coming from Mansfield  while his other teams, Celtic and  Manchester City had a rest this weekend.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
The race for the cash has remained the same as last week. In the lead with a total of 26 goals we have COLIN WEBB (2). In second place both on 25 goals we still have EMMA SAWYER and STEVE STUBBS. In third place on 24 goals we have ANDY EYLES. In fourth place is RYAN WILLIAMS on 23 goals. In fifth place all on 22 goals we have MATT DORAN, PATRICK O’DONAGHUE and JAMIE WOOD. We then still have five players on 21 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we only had just seventeen of our teams in action but out of them five teams failed to score any goals. So it is not surprising that our average score this weekend was a flat zero. Most of us picked up our second blank score sheet of the season.
The highest score that we had came from the League Two where MANSFIELD picked up their highest result of the season by winning 6-1 at home to OLDHAM. Mansfield have now taken their goals tally up to 21 goals while Oldham picked up goal number 16.
Mansfield have been with the competition for six seasons now and this is their third consecutive season. Mansfield started with Golden Goals in the 1986/87 Season where they became our 53rd voted English team to play. In that season they finished on a score of 55 goals. Their highest score came from last season (2018/19) where they finished on a score of 78 goals. Over the years they have scored a total of 345 goals which gives them an average score of 57 goals per season. This season they have just one vote and they have picked up a total of five blank score sheets in fourteen games.

LEAGUE ONE
Ipswich are still top and four points clear of Wycombe in second place, but they now have a game in hand. PETERBOROUGH have moved up to third place after they won 2-0 at home to LINCOLN CITY.  Borough are now on a total of 28 goals while Lincoln picked up their third blank of the season. BLACKPOOL are down to sixth place after they lost 2-1 at home to ROTHERHAM. That was Blackpool’s 19th goal of  the season while Rotherham are now on a total of 22 goals. MK DONS lost 1-0 away to Bristol Rovers and  that  is their six blank of the season and now just one goals in their last six games. DONCASTER picked up their fourth blank score sheet as they lost 3-0 away to Oxford UTD. PORTSMOUTH drew 0-0 at home to Gillingham and that is their fourth blank score sheet. ACCRINGTON STANLEY lost 2-1 away to Rochdale and  that  now gives them a total of 16 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. SOUTHEND are now on 16 goals as they lost 4-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon.

LEAGUE TWO
BRADFORD are now our highest team here in third place after they won 2-1 away to Morecambe. Bradford have now scored in all of their last eight games and they are now on 19 goals. FOREST GREEN ROVERS have dropped down to fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to Exeter to pick up their six blank of the season. LEYTON ORIENT have picked up another three goals in their 3-1 home win against Walsall. Orient are now on a total of 19 goals. SALFORD CITY won 1-0 at home to Cambridge and they are now on 16 goals. SCUNTHORPE won 3-0 at home to Northampton and that has taken them up to 16 goals. PLYMOUTH drew 1-1 away to Swindon and they are now on 22 goals.

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals are

COVE RANGERS (34) RANGERS (30) MANCHESTER CITY (30) Total of 94 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

NEWCASTLE (6) BARNSLEY (8) SHEFFIELD UNITED (9) Total of 23 goals

Our Best team is COVE RANGERS after scoring in all of their last eleven of their League/Cup games with a total of 34 goals.

Our worst team is NEWCASTLE this weekend as they have picked up just two goals in their last four games played. They have scored just six goals in their nine games played this season.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season are MANCHESTER CITY who won 8-0 against Watford in a league game in Week Eight.

GUY DOWSETT is now in his eleventh consecutive weekend at the top. Guy, like most of us, did not have any of his teams in action over the week. His teams are Celtic, Cove Rangers and Manchester City. Guy’s lead has once again been cut to five goals this week in front of Rose Collins, who remained in second place. Rose picked up her two goals from Peterborough at the weekend. Her other teams are Manchester City. and Rangers.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their fifth consecutive weekend there. The Saint has Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday and also did not have any of their teams in action this week.

No real change in the top ten this week
