Week Ten

In Week Ten of the competition we are half way through the first half and we had two winners this weekend winning on a score of 11 goals each. We have now had a total of fourteen winners to date and the winners this weekend are ANTHONY PIRES and TIM WOOD both share the £6 cash prize money.
Anthony is in his third season with Golden Goals and started with us in the 2017/18 Season, on where he finished in 127th  place on a total of 240 goals. Last season Anthony finished in 84th place on 276 goals and he shared a weekend win. This season he has remained on the second page with 51 being highest position to date. With one blank score sheet, this is his personal best score of the season so far.
Tim, Started with us way back in the 1996/97 Season and this is his 23rd Season with the competition. In his first season he finished in 43rd place on a total of  251 goals. Last season Tim finished in 44th place on 304 goals and he picked up three weekend wins worth over £23 in cash. This season he has also had one blank score sheet at the weekend and this is also his personal best score. This is the highest that Tim has been so far. The winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
The race for the cash has once again changed this week as just under half of our players picked up some more goals. The player to pick up the most was JOHN DAVIES and EMMA SAWYER with five goals each. John’s came from Brentford 1 and Fulham 4. His third team is Tottenham. Emma’s came from Fulham 4, Luton 1. Her third team is West Ham.
In the lead this week with a total of 26 goals we have COLIN WEBB (2) In second place both on 25 goals we still have STEVE STUBBS but he is now with EMMA SAWYER up from three. In third place on 24 goals we still have ANDY EYLES. In fourth place down from one last week is RYAN WILLIAMS on 23 goals. In fifth place all on 22 goals we have MATT DORAN down from one but he is now with PATRICK O’DONAGHUE and JAMIE WOOD both coming straight in. We then have five players on 21 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we had another crazy weekend with our teams. We had just three of our teams without a game and another eleven teams that failed to score any goals again. Our average score for this weekend fell from six goals from last weekend to just 4 goals this weekend. The reason for that is that the Celtic and Manchester City combo’s failed to score any goals.
The Highest score over the weekend was five goals again and we had three of our teams that picked them up. One came from the Premier League where ASTON VILLA won 5-0 away to  Norwich. That has taken Villa’s goals tally up to 22 and they have now scored twelve goals in their last four games. In the Championship, PRESTON picked up their highest result of the season by winning 5-1 at home to BARNSLEY. Preston are now on a total of 29 goals while Barnsley picked up goal number eight. For the second consecutive weekend, RANGERS from the Scottish Premiership picked up another five goals in their 5-0 home win against Hamilton. Rangers are now on a total of 30 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
LIVERPOOL get a very late penalty to beat LEICESTER CITY 2-1 to remain top.Liverpool have won eight out of eight games and have now scored in all of their nine league/cup games. They are now on a total of 22 goals. Leicester picked up goal number 19 and down to fourth place. Now eight points behind them is still MANCHESTER CITY in second place after they lost their first league game 2-0 at home to WOLVES. After a goal run of eight games, City picked up their first blank score sheet. Wolves are now on a total of 12 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. ARSENAL are now in third place after they won 1-0 at home to Bournemouth and that is their 18th goal of the season and they have now scored in all of their nine games played. CHELSEA are now in fifth place after they won 4-1 away to Southampton and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. After a two game dry spell, NEWCASTLE won 1-0 at home to troubled MANCHESTER UNITED and they are now on 6 goals while United picked up their second blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last four games. TOTTENHAM picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 3-0 away to Brighton. EVERTON lost 1-0 away to Burnley and that is their fourth blank of the season. WEST HAM lost 2-1 at home to London rivals Crystal Palace. West Ham are now on 13 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 0-0 away to Watford and that is their fourth blank score sheet and now three in a row. United have scored just two goals in their last five games.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are still top here this week after they won 4-2 at home to CARDIFF CITY. West Brom are now on a total of 22 goals while Cardiff are on 16 and they have now scored in all of their last six games. It’s 20 goals for NOTTINGHAM FOREST who are now in second place after they won 1-0 at home to BRENTFORD. Brentford have now had six blank score sheets to date. Preston are now in third place with LEEDS UNITED down to fifth place after they lost 2-1 away to Millwall. Leeds are now on a total of 20 goals. DERBY won 2-0 at home to LUTON and they are now on 16 goals while Luton picked up their fourth blank score sheet. It’s 20 goals for FULHAM after they drew 2-2 at home to Charlton. HUDDERSFIELD picked up their highest result of the season by winning 3-0 at home to Hull and that brings their goals tally up to 12. After a two game dry spell for goals, QUEENS PARK RANGERS are now on 21 goals after they picked up their biggest result by winning 4-2 at home to BLACKBURN ROVERS. Rovers are now on 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are also on 17 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Wigan.
STOKE have won their first league game of the season but they remain bottom of the league ,after they won 2-1 away to Swansea. Stoke are now on 15 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH are still top after they won 1-0 away to Fleetwood. Ipswich are now on a total of 22 goals. SUNDERLAND are down to sixth place after they lost 2-0 away to LINCOLN CITY. As Sunderland picked up their second blank of the season, Lincoln take their goals tally up to 20 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY drew 2-2 at home to Oxford UTD and they are now on 15 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. PORTSMOUTH won 2-1 away to DONCASTER and they are now on 17 goals to Doncaster’s 13. MK DONS lost 3-0 at home to Burton and that is their fifth blank and now just one goal in their last five games. It’s 20 goals for ROTHERHAM after they won 4-0 at home to Coventry. PETERBOROUGH picked up another three goals in their 3-3 draw away to Wycombe. Borough are now on a total of 26 goals. SOUTHEND are now second from bottom after they lost 3-1 away to Gillingham. Southend are now on 15 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
FOREST GREEN have moved to the top after they won 3-1 at home to Crawley. Forest Green are now on a total of 14 goals. BRADFORD come next in sixth place after they won 2-1 at home to Swindon. Bradford have now scored in all of their last seven games and they are now on 17 goals. MANSFIELD picked up their 15th goal of the season after they won 1-0 away to Grimsby. LEYTON ORIENT won 1-0 away to Northampton and they are now on 16 goals and they have scored in all of their last nine games. OLDHAM drew 1-1 at home to Cheltenham and that is their 15th goal of the season. PLYMOUTH drew 2-2 at home to SCUNTHORPE and they are now on 21 goals to Scunthorpe's 13. SALFORD CITY have picked up their highest result of the season after they won 3-0 away to Walsall and they are now on 15 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, Rangers are now in top position after they won their game over the weekend. CELTIC after a goal run of nine games, lost their first league game 2-0 away to Livingston. HEARTS lost 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock and that is their third blank of the season and now two in a row.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still top after they drew 2-2 at home to FALKIRK in third place. Rovers have now scored in all of their last nine games and they are now on 26 goals. Falkirk are now on a total of 22 goals. PETERHEAD lost 2-1 at home to Airdrie but they are now on a total of 14 goals.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS have remained top after they lost their first league game 3-2 away to . STENHOUSEMUIR. Rangers have extended their goal run to eleven games and they are now on a total of 34 goals. Stenhousemuir are now on 15 goals.

Our Best team is COVE RANGERS after scoring in all of their last eleven of their League/Cup games with a total of 34 goals.

Our worst team is NEWCASTLE this weekend as they have picked up just two goals in their last four games played. They have scored just six goals in their nine games played this season.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season are MANCHESTER CITY who won 8-0 against Watford in a league game in Week Eight.  

GUY DOWSETT is now in his tenth consecutive weekend at the top. Guy picked up just two goals at the weekend. They came from Cove Rangers as Celtic and Manchester City failed to score any goals in their games. Guy’s lead has been cut to seven goals this week in front of Rose Collins, who moves into second place. Rose has Manchester City. Peterborough and Rangers and she picked up a total of eight goals all coming from the weekend.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their fourth consecutive weekend there. The Saint has Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday and picked up just five goals this week all from the weekend.
