Week Twenty-Six

In Week Twenty-Six of the competition we had two winners who won on a score of 13 goals each and shared the Jackpot Cash Prize Money of £6. One of our winners became our 28th of the season while the other one picked up his fourth win of the season. That player is CLIFF BAMBRIDGE. Cliff  last won in Week Twenty-One in which he shared the cash. He has still only had two blank score sheets and Manchester City is still his best team. Our new winner is  CHRIS DICKER and he has been with us since the 2011/12 Season. In his first season he finished in 96th place with a total of 237 goals. Last season Chris finished just outside of the winning frame in 29th place with 312 goals. This season he has been as high as fifth place in Week Two. He has picked up a total of four blank score sheets to date and he’s best team is Manchester City. Here is our winners combination

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All but one of us managed to pick up some more goals this week but we had three players that picked up the most with eight goals each. They were BARBARA BARNES (1), MIKE LIDDLE and JACQUI WILLIAMS. There are now a total of eighty players that now are on a total of 50 or more midweek goals this week as another twenty-five reached the halfway mark..
PATRICK O’DONAGHUE has remained in the lead now with a total of 74 goals. Patrick picked up a three goals from Liverpool and Manchester City. His other team is Fulham. In second place we now have ANDY EYLES moving up from three with 69 goals. COLIN WEBB (2) from second place last week falls down to third with 68 goals. In fourth place we have PHIL REEVE moving back down from three on 67 goals. In fifth place all on 66 goals we still have TONY GUY (1) but he is now with AVA & AUBREY CLARK down from four and back in the race we have BARBARA BARNES (1) and MATT DORAN. In sixth place both on 65 goals we have TONY GUY (4) down from four and DANNY HARRINGTON down from fifth place..

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we had nineteen of our teams without a game and another seven that failed to score any goals. But the good news is that this weekends average score moved up from four goals of last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. The good news is that all but one player picked up some goals thanks again to that Celtic and Manchester City combo.
The highest score that we had this weekend came from two of our teams. MANCHESTER UNITED picked up their highest result of the season as they win 6-0 away to Tranmere in the FA CUP Fourth Round. United are now on a total of 50 goals after a two game dry spell for goals. The Other team came from the Scottish League One where FALKIRK won 6-0 at home to Forfar. It’s the second game that Falkirk have netted six goals and they are now on a total of 54 goals.

FA CUP Fourth Round
We had a total of nineteen of our teams in cup action over the weekend. We already know that Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday are both through but who else has made it through to the next round.
Well MANCHESTER CITY will be as they win 4-0 at home to FULHAM. City are now on a total of 85 goals while Fulham picked up their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. LEICESTER CITY won 1-0 away to BRENTFORD and that is their 66th goal of the season while Brentford picked up their eleventh blank score sheet and now two in a row. CHELSEA won 2-1 away to Hull and they are now on 53 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 2-0 away to Millwall and they have taken their goals tally up to 31 goals. PORTSMOUTH won 4-2 at home against BARNSLEY and they are now on a total of 52 goals and have extended their goal run to eighteen games. Barnsley after a two game dry spell for goals are now on 40. WEST BROM won 1-0 away to WEST HAM and that is their 53rd goals while West Ham picked up their eighth blank score sheet.
Now we do have a few teams in replays they are Derby from Friday night, LIVERPOOL who drew 2-2 away to SHREWSBURY after going two goals up. Liverpool are now on 64 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. BIRMINGHAM picked up their tenth blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Coventry. NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 at home to Oxford Utd and that is their eighth blank score sheet of the season. CARDIFF drew 1-1 away to Reading and that is their 46th goal of the season TOTTENHAM drew 1-1 away to Southampton and they are now on 42 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We had just one game to be played over the weekend here and that was STOKE who won 2-0 at home to Swansea. Stoke are now on a total of 40 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH are back on top after they won 1-0 at home against LINCOLN CITY. Ipswich are now on 45 goals while Lincoln picked up their tenth blank score sheet. ROTHERHAM are down to second place after they lost 2-1 away to PETERBOROUGH who are in fifth place. Rotherham are now on 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. Peterborough are now on a total of 58 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY drew 1-1 away to Burton and they are now on 38 goals and have now scored in all of their last ten games. 

LEAGUE TWO
PLYMOUTH have moved up to third place after they won 2-1 away to Sevenage to take their goals tally to 51 and they have now scored in all of their last seven games.
We have just one team in the Play-Off zone now and they are BRADFORD CITY who have moved down to seventh place after they lost 3-0 away to MANSFIELD. Bradford have now failed to score in their last two games as they pick up blank number eight. Mansfield have taken their goals total up to 43.
Meanwhile LEYTON ORIENT won 2-1 at home against Newport and they are now on 37 goals. FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 2-1 away to Maccelsfield and that is their 40th goal of the season. SALFORD CITY drew 1-1 at home to OLDHAM and they are now on 38 goals while Oldham are now on 32. It’s 40 goals for SCUNTHORPE as they drew 2-2 at home to Crewe.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Premiership, CELTIC remain at the top after they won 3-0 at home to Ross County. Celtic are now on a total of 76 goals and they have extended their goal run to seventeen games. RANGERS lost 2-1 away to bottom of the table HEARTS after they went a goal up. Rangers are now on 64 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. Rangers are now five points behind their rivals Celtic. Hearts are now on a total of 35 goals.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still there as they win 4-3 at home to Montrose. Rovers are now on a total of 49 goals. Falkirk are still in second place after their big win at the weekend and PETERHEAD are now on 29 goals as they lost 2-0 at home to Dumbarton.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are still top and still five points clear as they win 2-0 at home to Annan. Rangers are now on a total of 63 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games. It’s 30 goals for STENHOUSEMUIR as they lost 2-1 at home to Edinburgh City.

Our on form team this weekend is MANCHESTER CITY after they have scored in all of their last twenty-one games. They have a total of 85 goals which still gives them an average score of 2.8 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is MK DONS They have picked up a total of thirteen blank score sheets in thirty-one games played. The Dons have failed to score in their last two games. They have a total of 33 goals and two votes.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

It’s all change at the top again this week as BARBARA BARNES (1) moves back to the top for her second weekend of the season. Barbara picked up a total of 16 goals this week from her combination of Celtic, Leicester City and Manchester City. Barbara is now two goals in front of BRADLEY CLARK who has moved up to second place. Bradley picked up a total of 15 goals for the week. He has Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, as he picks up a total of six goals for the week. This now means that The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of nineteen weeks. His teams are once again Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
