Week Twenty-Six

In Week Twenty-Six of the competition we had just the one winner to collect the full £6 cash prize money this weekend. Our winner is DEREK CORMACK who becomes our twenty-seventh winner of the season winning on a score of 8 goals. Derek is in his third season with Golden Goals as he first started with us in the 2017/18 Season. In his first season Derek finished in the winning frame in 18th place with a total of 304 goals. He also had two weekend wins. Last season he finished in 31st place with 290 goals and he picked up one weekend win. This season Derek has been as high as 76th place in Week Two but has mainly been on the third page for most of the season. He has only had two blank score sheets from the weekend and Manchester City is his best team. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS 

Most of us picked up some goals this week once again and it has changed the order in the race for the cash again. We have four players left to hit the magic 50 goal mark this week. The highest midweek score that we had was 6 goals and they went to seven of our players this week. 

So here are the top six places this week. In first place with 94 goals we still have last weeks leader RAYMOND HARROD. Ray needs just six more goals to win the £40 cash prize money. In second place we still have MARK GREGORY but he is now joined with CHRIS SETFORD who has moved up from three. Both are on a total of 90 goals. In third place moving up from four we have MICHAEL JACOBSON and moving back into the race this week we have SANSA-CLARA-LYANNA both with a total of 87 goals. In fourth place we have A&A. CLARK with a total of 86 goals. In fifth place on 85 goals we have ALICE STUBBS. In sixth place we still have CHRIS DICKER and moving back in to the race all with a total of 84 goals we have MALCOLM STUBBS and DEAN ZANIOUS

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had a total of eight of our teams without a game over the weekend with another thirteen that failed to score any goals. The good news is that only two players failed to pick up any goals at the weekend. After getting yet another fantastic set of midweek results, this weekends average score shot from two of last weekend up to 4 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was four goals again and we had another two teams that picked them up. They came from the Premier League where TOTTENHAM won 4-0 at home to Burnley and they are now on a total of 57 goals and from League One, PLYMOUTH won 4-3 at home to LINCOLN CITY.  After failing to score in their previous two games, Plymouth are on a total of 55 goals. Lincoln are on a total of 52 goals. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

Champions MANCHESTER CITY won 2-1 at home to WEST HAM. City are now on a total of 72 goals and have extended their goal run to twenty games. West Ham picked up goal number 54 and have remained in fourth place. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in second place after they drew 0-0 away to CHELSEA in fifth place. Both United and Chelsea have picked up seven blank score sheets to date. LEICESTER CITY are still in third place after they lost 3-1 at home to ARSENAL. Leicester are now on a total of 53 goals while Arsenal have taken their goals tally to 39. LEEDS UNITED lost 1-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and that is their seventh blank score sheet while Villa picked up goal number 45. WOLVES drew 1-1 away to Newcastle and they are on a total of 29 goals. WEST BROM won 1-0 at home to BRIGHTON and they are on a total of 27 goals as Brighton picked up their tenth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last three games. LIVERPOOL won 2-0 away to bottom of the table Sheffield United and they are now on a total of 60 goals. FULHAM drew 0-0 away to Crystal Palace and that is their fourteenth blank score sheet. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

NORWICH are still top here and still seven points ahead after they won 2-0 away to Wycombe. Norwich are on a total of 50 goals. BRENTFORD are still in second place after they won 2-1 at home to STOKE. Brentford are now on a total of 73 goals while Stoke are on 42. 

In the Play-Off’s we still have all four teams with WATFORD in third place after their lost 1-0 away to BOURNEMOUTH Watford picked up their eleventh blank score sheet while Bournemouth still in sixth place are on 56 goals. SWANSEA are still in fourth place after they lost again 3-1 at home to BRISTOL CITY. Swansea are on 47 goals but they have extended their goal run to twelve games. Bristol are now on a total of 46 goals. READING are still in fifth place after they won 1-0 away to ROTHERHAM. Reading after a two game dry spell are now on a total of 48 goals. Rotherham picked up their eleventh blank score sheet and now four in a row. 

Meanwhile BIRMINGHAM won 2-1 at home to QPR and they are on 25 goals this week. LUTON won 3-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and they are now on a total of 33 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1at home to CARDIFF and they are on 43 goals and a goal run of six games, while Cardiff are on 49 goals and a goal run of nine games. PRESTON had failed to score in their last three games but won 3-0 at home to Huddersfield. Preston are on a total of 44 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE 

PETERBOROUGH are top here this week after they won 2-1 at home to WIGAN. Borough have now scored in all of their last six games and they are on a total of 54 goals. Wigan hit goal number 36. Lincoln City are down to second place after their defeat away to Plymouth.  

In the Play-off’s we still have three of our teams out of the four with HULL still in third place after they won 3-0 away to AFC Wimbledon. Hull are now on a total of 57 goals. PORTSMOUTH are still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Gillingham. Portsmouth are now on a total of 60 goals. SUNDERLAND are up to fifth place after they drew 2-2 away to CREWE. Sunderland are now on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last twelve games. Crewe are also on a total of 46 goals. 

Meanwhile CHARLTON lost 3-0 away to Blackpool and after a goal run of ten games, picked up their eighth blank of the season. FLEETWOOD TOWN drew 1-1 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY and they are on 41 goals to Accrington’s 42. After a two game dry spell for goals, OXFORD UNITED hit goal number 47 after their 1-1 away draw against MK Dons. SWINDON won 2-1 at home to Northampton and they are now on a total of 39 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO 

The highest team that we have here in third place is still CHELTENHAM after they won 2-0 away to SCUNTHORPE. Cheltenham are now on 50 goals while Scunthorpe picked up their twelfth blank and now two in a row. 

In the Play-off’s we have just two teams now with TRENMERE ROVERS now in fourth place after they won 3-1 away to Leyton Orient. Tranmere are now on a total of 47 goals. BOLTON have moved up to seventh place as they win 1-0 at home to Barrow. Bolton are on 42 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. 

Meanwhile EXETER lost 2-0 away to Crawley and that is their eighth blank of the season. HARROGATE TOWN won 1-0 at home Grimsby and they are on 38 goals. SOUTHEND drew 0-0 at home to SALFORD CITY and that is their seventeenth blank to Salford’s tenth after a goal run of six games. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Premiership Rangers had no game this week and they are now 15 points in front of Celtic. CELTIC won 1-0 at home against ABERDEEN with the goal coming in the first half.  As Celtic picked up their 65th goal of the season, Aberdeen still in fourth place, picked up blank number thirteen. MOTHERWELL won 2-0 away to third place Hibernian and that has taken their goals tally to 29. 

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals. They are 

RANGERS (79) BRENTFORD (73) MANCHESTER CITY (72)  Total of 224 goals 

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE 

COVE RANGERS (22) STENHOUSEMUIR (22) SOUTHEND (24) Total of 68 goals 

Our Best team this week are RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last twenty-eight league/cup games. They have scored a total of 79 goals which now gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game. 

Our worst team this weekend is ABERDEEN who have scored just five goals in their last eleven games played. 

SOUTHEND have picked up the most number of blank score sheets with seventeen out of thirty-three league/cup games.

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 9-0 win at home against Southampton in the league in Week Twenty-Three.  

STEVE REEVE has remained at the top this weekend as I managed to pick up a total of just seven goals this week. It’s four weeks in a row at the top for me this week. My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. Michael Fisher is still in second place as he picked up a total of  two goals for the week. Michael is now seven goals behind me this week. His teams are Manchester City Manchester United and Rangers. 

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for ten consecutive weeks and has been there the longest this season. Johns teams picked up a total of seven goals this week from Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom.
