Week Twelve

Here in Week Twelve of the competition and we had our third lady winner to win some cash this season and they are JULIA WOOD. Julia won on our top score of the season a massive total of 16 goals. This now brings our winners total up to fifteen. Julia started with us in the 2016/17 Season but the last time that Julia appeared with Golden Goals was in the 2019/20 Season on where she finished in 100th place with a total of 231 goals. This season Julia with her personal best weekend score has moved up to her highest position to date. She has picked up a total of three blank score sheets and her best team is Liverpool. Julia’s winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week and it was LOUIE HARRINGTON that picked up the most amount of goals with nine. They came from Arsenal five and Sunderland four. His third team is Manchester City. Louie is now on a total of 36 goals. The race for the cash has changed this week. In the lead we now have PETER PORTER up from two with a total of 38 goals. His combo are Bournemouth, Rangers and Sunderland. In second place we now have down from one COLIN WEBB and now with BOB SOPER up from four. Both are on a total of 37 goals. In third place down from one we now have GEOFF CARTHY and joing him coming straight in this week we have LOUIE HARRINGTON. Both are on a total of 36 goals. In fourth place with 35 goals we have LYANNA GRIMWOOD moving up from five. In fifth place this week we have JAMIE WOOD down from four with our 2007/08 Champion RICKY WOOD. Both are on a total of 33 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but two of our teams in action this weekend and out of the ones that did play only ten of them failed to score any goals. The good news is that we all managed to pick up some goals once again as we had one hell of a weekend for goals. This weekends average score shot up from five goals last weekend to 7 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was seven goals again and they came from CHELSEA. They won 7-0 at home to bottom of the table Norwich. Chelsea with their biggest score of the season have taken their goals tally to 24 goals. 

Chelsea are just one of our four teams that have appeared in all of our 39 Seasons. In our very first of 1983/84 they became our 24th most voted team and they finished on a total of 98 goals. Their biggest score came in the 2009/10 Season with 128 goals. Last season they finished on a total of 76 goals. Over the years they have netted a total of 3128 goals which gives them an average score of 80 goals per season. This season they have twenty votes and they have only picked up one blank score sheet to date. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We still have the top seven teams here this week with Chelsea keeping on top after their big win against Norwich. LIVERPOOL are still in second place after they thrashed MANCHESTER UNITED 5-0 away. Liverpool are now on a total of 30 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after ten games played. United in 7th place picked up their third blank of the season. MANCHESTER CITY are still in third place as they win 4-1 away to BRIGHTON. City are now on a total of 26 goals and now have a goal run for five games. Brighton after failing to score in their last two games, picked up goal number 13. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle and they are on a total of 11 goals. WATFORD after a two game dry spell for goals are now on a total of 14 goals as they win 5-2 away to Everton. WOLVES drew 1-1 away to Leeds and they are on 15 goals and a goal run of five games. LEICESTER CITY won 2-1 away to BRENTFORD and are now on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their last six games. Brentford are on 21 goals this week. WEST HAM won 1-0 at home to London rivals TOTTENHAM and they picked up goal number 17 and they have now scored in all of their last six games. Tottenham picked up their third blank score sheet. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

BOURNEMOUTH are now five points in front as they win 3-0 at home to Huddersfield. Bournemouth are on a total of 29 goals. FULHAM are up to second place after they win 4-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Fulham are now on a total of 35 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. Forest picked up their fourth blank score sheet. WEST BROM are down to third place as they win 3-0 at home to Bristol City. West Brom are now on a total of 25 goals. SWANSEA lost 2-1 away to Birmingham but picked up goal number 22. READNG lost 2-0 away to Blackburn and that is their fourth blank of the season. PRESTON picked up their fifth blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 away to Blackpool. CARDIFF lost 2-0 at home to Middlesbrough and that is their eight blank and now five in a row. DERBY drew 1-1 away to Coventry and they are on 14 goals. HULL lost 1-0 away to Luton and that is their ninth blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH won 2-1 at home to QPR and they are on 16 goals. BARNSLEY lost 3-2 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and they are on a total of 9 goals after a three games with out a goal. Sheffield are now on  a total of 23 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

We now have the top six teams here this week with PLYMOUTH still on top on goal average as they drew 1-1 away to Morecambe. Plymouth are now on a total of 31 goals and a goal run of sixteen games. WYCOMBE are still in second place after they won 2-1 at home to Crewe. Wycombe are on a total of 25 goals this week. WIGAN are still in third place after they won 3-0 away to AFC Wimbledon. Wigan are now on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. PORTSMOUTH drew 2-2 away to Accrington and they are on a total of 18 goals. BOLTON drew 2-2 at home to Gillingham and they are on 22 goals after failing to score in their last three. OXFORD UNITED are on 24 goals after they won 3-1away to BURTON ALBION. Burton picked up goal number 17 and now have a goal run of seven games. IPSWICH won 2-1 at home to Fleetwood and they are on 29 goals and they have now scored in all of their last thirteen games. ROTHERHAM won 2-0 away to MK Dons and they are on 24 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 1-1 at home to LINCOLN CITY and they are on 17 goals and a goal run of nine games. Lincoln are on 19 goals. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 at home to CHARLTON and that is their third blank as Charlton take their goals total to 16 and a goal run of ten games. 

LEAGUE TWO

EXTER CITY are now our highest team here now in fourth place. They won 2-1 at home to Mansfield and they are on a total of 23 goals. They have now scored in all of their last eight games. CARLISLE drew 0-0 at home to Oldham and they have now had a total of eight blank score sheets. SALFORD CITY lost 3-1 away to Forest Green and they are on a total of 18 goals. SUTTON UNITED lost 3-2 away to Rochdale and they are on 22 goals and a goal run of six games. SCUNTHORPE won 2-1 at home to Crawley and they are now on a total of 10 goals. STEVENAGE drew 0-0 at home to Leyton Orient and that is their sixth blank and now three in a row. SWINDON lost 3-1 at home to Bradford and they are on a total of 19 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week are

Our WORST three teams are 

BARNSLEY (9) HULL (10) SCUNTHORPE (10) Total of 29 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the SCOTTISH CUP first round games, we had two of our teams in this round and the good news is that both have made it through to the next round with no trouble. Kelty Hearts won 4-1 at home to non-league Buckle Thistle and they are now on  a total of 34 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. STENHOUSEMUIR also won 4-1 at home to non-league Huntly and with their biggest result to date are now on a total of 19 goals. 

In the Premiership, RANGERS are now three point in front of second place Hearts as they win 2-1 away to St Mirren. Rangers are on a total of 24 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. HEARTS hit goal number 26 after they drew 1-1 at home to Dundee. CELTIC are still in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home to St Johnston. Celtic are on a total of 29 goals. ABERDEEN won 1-0 at home to Hibernian and that is their 12th goal of the season.

In the Championship, KILMARNOCK won 2-1 at home to Hamilton which has moved them up to second place with a total of 20 goals.

Our on-form team is PLYMOUTH after scoring in all of their last sixteen League/Cup games with a total of 31 goals. 

Our worst team this week are BOLTON after they have picked up nine blank score sheets out of seventeen games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are now CHELSEA after they won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

We have a new leader this week as LYANNA GRIMWOOD becomes our first lady at the top and our third player to be there this season. Lyanna picked up a total of fourteen goals this week and her teams are Fulham, Manchester City and Sunderland. Chris Bolbery after nine consecutive weekend at the top has dropped down to second place and is now three goals behind Lyanna. Chris picked up a total of ten goals this week. He’s teams are Bournemouth, Celtic and Sunderland.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) here this weekend which is now his eighth consecutive weekend at the bottom. Ziggy did pick up a total of ten goals this week from Stenhousemuir. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.
