Week Eight


In Week Eight of the competition we had our eleventh winner of the season with a score of 16 goals. Our winner this weekend is GRAHAM WARMAN who picks up the full £6 cash prize money.
Graham is in his sixth season with Golden Goals. As he started with us in the 2014/15 Season on where he finished in 85th place on a total of 235 goals. In the following season he finished in the winning frame in 24th place on 268 goals. With two weekend wins, Graham won over £13. Last season he finished again in the winning frame in 22nd place with a total of 315 goals winning just over £7 in cash. This season we can see Graham at his highest to date. He has picked up just one blank score sheet and this weekends score is his personal best. His teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
The race for the cash has changed this week as forty-nine for us picked up some more goals. The player to pick up the most was MICHAEL JACOBSON with four goals. They came from Peterborough and Portsmouth with two goals each, his other team is Man City.  
In the lead this week with 20 goals and moves up from second place is SCOTT THOMSON (2). In second place we now have the Williams family with RYAN WILLIAMS dropping down from one and  RICHARD WILLIAMS up from third place both with a total of 19 goals. In third place down from one last week is EMMA SAWYER with a total of 18 goals. In fourth place all on 16 goals we still have COLIN WEBB (2) and JOHN WOOD (Lucifer) but they are now joined with MICHAEL BILTON and PETER PORTER. In fifth place all on 14 goals we still have TONY KING but he is now with TOBY BRICKNELL, MICHAEL JACOBSON and JED WEARDEN.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we had all of our teams in action and out of them seventeen failed to score any goals. But despite that, our average score for this weekend was 11 goals which is the highest so far this season. .
The Highest score over the weekend was eight goals and they came from the Premier League where MANCHESTER CITY won 8-0 at home against Watford to not only picked up their highest score of the season, but also our highest score of our 37th Season. City have now taken their goals tally up to 24 goals and they have now scored in all of their six league games.
Manchester City became our 15th voted team in our first season of 1983/84. In that season they finished on a total of 73 goals. This is their 26th season with Golden Goals and their highest score came in the 2013/14 Season with 137 goals and then again last season 2018/19. Over the seasons they have netted a total of 2114 goals which gives them an average score of 81 goals per season and that will go up as the season progresses.

PREMIERSHIP
LIVERPOOL are still top here after they won their sixth league game out of six played, as they win 2-1 away to CHELSEA. Liverpool have scored in all of their six league games and they are now on a total of 17 goals. Chelsea picked up their 12th of the season and they have scored in all of their last five games. Five points behind them is Manchester City in second place.  LEICESTER CITY have moved up to third place after they beat TOTTENHAM 2-1 at home. Leicester are now on 9 goals while Tottenham are on 12 and down to seventh place in the league. ARSENAL have moved up to fourth place after they picked up their biggest result of the season by winning  3-2 at home to ASTON VILLA after going a goal down. Arsenal have now scored in all of their six games and they are now on 11 goals. Villa after a two game dry spell are now on 12 goals. WEST HAM are now in fifth place after they won 2-0 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. West Ham are now on 10 goals while United picked up their second blank of the season. WOLVES drew 1-1 away to Crystal Palace to pick up goal number 7. SHEFFIELD UNITED won their second league game by winning 2-0 away to EVERTON. United are now on 9 goals while Everton picked up their third blank score sheet of the season. NEWCASTLE picked up their second blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to Brighton.

CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED are still top this week after they drew 1-1 at home to DERBY. Leeds are now on a total of 18 goals while Derby picked up their 9th goal of the season. PRESTON come next now, moving up to third place after they won 1-0 away to BIRMINGHAM. Preston have now scored in all of their last nine games and they are now on a total of 20 goals. Birmingham picked up their fourth blank of the season. WEST BROM are now in fourth place after they won 4-2 at home to HUDDERSFIELD. After picking up their highest score of the season, West Brom have now scored in all of their nine games and are now on 16 goals while Huddersfield are now on 7 goals but remain bottom of the league. BRENTFORD drew 0-0 at home to STOKE and that is their fifth blank of the season and now two in a row. Brentford have scored just three goals in their last five games. Stoke picked up their second blank score sheet. CARDIFF won 1-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH and that is goal number 9 for them while Brough picked up their third blank of the season. LUTON picked up their second blank as they lost 3-0 at home to Hull. QUEENS PARK RANGERS won 2-1 away to Millwall and they are now on 17 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 1-0 at home to BARNSLEY and they are now on 15 goals and they have scored in all of their ten games played. Barnsley picked up their sixth blank score sheet and now three in a row. BLACKBURN ROVERS won 2-1 away to Reading and they are now on a total of 13 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 1-1 at home to FULHAM. Both teams are now on a total of 12 goals each.

LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH have moved back up to first place after they won 1-0 away to Gillingham. Ipswich are now on a total of 17 goals.  SUNDERLAND are still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 away to Burton. Sunderland are now on 20 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY drew 1-1 at home to BLACKPOOL and they are now on 12 goals while Blackpool hit goal number 16. After a two game dry spell for goals, DONCASTER are now on 11 goals after they won 2-0 at home against PETERBOROUGH who picked up their third blank score sheet. LINCOLN CITY lost 6-0 at home to Oxford Utd and that is their second blank of the season and now just one goal in their last three games. MK DONS picked up their third blank and now two in a row after they lost 1-0 at home to SOUTHEND who are now on 14 goals. ROTHERHAM drew 0-0 at home to Shrewsbury and that is their third of the season. PORTSMOUTH lost 1-0 away to Wycombe and that is their second blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO
FOREST GREEN are still our highest team here now down to fifth place after they drew 0-0 at home to Stevenage. That is Forest Green’s fifth blank of the season and now two in a row. BRADFORD are in sixth place after they won 3-1 at home to Carlisle. Bradford are now on a total of 14 goals and they have now scored in all of their last five games. LEYTON ORIENT lost 2-1 away to Colchester but they are now on a total of 12 goals and a goal run of seven games. SALFORD CITY lost 4-1 away to Crewe but they are now on a total of 12 goals. With their biggest result of the season, OLDHAM won 3-1 at home to Morecambe. Oldham are now on 14 goals. PLYMOUTH picked up their third blank of the season after they lost 2-0 at home against Cheltenham. After a two game dry spell for goals and just two goals in their last five games, MANSFIELD are now on 14 goals as they drew 2-2 away to Port Vale. SCUNTHORPE picked up their sixth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Walsall.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC came from behind to beat Kilmarnock 3-1 at home to remain top and win all of their six league games. Celtic have now scored all in of their seven games this season and they are now on a total of 23 goals.
RANGERS are still in second place and still three points behind their rivals as they win 4-0 away to bottom of the table St Johnstone. Rangers are now on 19 goals. HEARTS went a goal down to win 2-1 away to Hibernian. Hearts are now on 17 goals.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are now top after they won 1-0 away to Airdrie. Rovers have now scored in all of their last seven games and they are now on 22 goals. FALKIRK are still in third place after they won 3-0 away to Stranraer. Falkirk are now on 20. PETERHEAD drew 1-1 at home to Clyde and that is their 10th goal of the season.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS have remained top after they win again 2-0 away to Elgin City. Rangers are now on a total of 29 goals and they have now extended their goals run to nine games. STENHOUSEMUIR won 1-0 at home to Brechin and they are now on 11 goals.

Our Best team is COVE RANGERS after scoring in all of their last nine of their League/Cup games with a total of 29 goals.

Our worst team is BARNSLEY this weekend as they have picked up just one goal in their last five games played. They have scored just four goals in their nine games this season.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season are MANCHESTER CITY who won 8-0 against Watford in a league game in Week Eight.  

GUY DOWSETT is now in his eighth consecutive weekend at the top. All of his goals came from the weekend once again with eight goals from Manchester City, three from Celtic and two from Cove Rangers. Guy is has now extended his lead to nine goals this week in front of Mike Liddle now in second place. Mick has Celtic, Manchester City and Peterborough and he picked up a total of thirteen goals. Two came from midweek and eleven from the weekend.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their second weekend there. The Saint has Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday and picked up just three goals this week.
