Week Nine

In Week Nine of the competition we had our twelfth winner of the season winning on a score of 13 goals. Our winner this weekend is STEPTOE & SON (Jamie Marson) who picks up the full £6 cash prize money.
Jamie has been with Golden Goals for quite a while now and last season, Janie finished in 68th place on a total of 289 goals. This season we see Jamie at their highest position after keeping on the second page for the first eight weeks. Jamie's best team is Manchester City netting 30 of their total of 73 goals. Jamie’s combination has done very well over the last couple of weeks picking up fourteen goals last week and another twenty-one goals this week. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
The race for the cash has changed this week as all but two of our players picked up some more goals. The player to pick up the most was JACQUI WILLIAMS with sixteen goals. They came from Arsenal 5, Chelsea 7 and Leicester City 4.  
In the lead this week with a total of 22 goals we have RYAN WILLIAMS moving up from two last week, COLIN WEBB (2) up from four and straight in MATT DORAN. In second place all on 21 goals we still have RICHARD WILLIAMS but we now have SCOTT THOMSON (2) down from one and TOBY BRICKNELL up from five. Moving straight in is STEVE STUBBS. In third place all on 20 goals we still have EMMA SAWYER but she is now joined with ALICE STUBBS and ANDY EYLES. In fourth place all on 19 goals we still have PETER PORTER but he is now joined with SIMON DICKINSON, TONY GUY (3) and ADAM SANSOM. In fifth place all on 18 goals we have a total of seven players. This is going to be one hell of a midweek race this season.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we had another crazy weekend for goals. We had seven of our teams without a game and another eleven teams that failed to score any goals. But despite that, our average score for this weekend fell from eleven goals from last weekend to just 6 goals this weekend.
The Highest score over the weekend was five goals and we had two of our teams that picked them up. One came from the Premier League where LEICESTER CITY won 5-0 at home to NEWCASTLE to pick up their biggest result of the season and nine goals in their last two games. City are now on a total of 18 goals. Newcastle picked up their third blank and now two in a row. The other team to hit five was RANGERS from the Scottish Premiership after they won 5-0 at home to Aberdeen. Rangers are now on a total of 25 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
Are we already looking at this season’s champions as LIVERPOOL remain top here after they won their seventh league game as they won 1-0 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED. Liverpool have scored in all of their eight league/cup games and they are now on a total of 20 goals. Sheffield United picked up their third blank score sheet and now two in a row. Five points behind them is still MANCHESTER CITY in second place. They won 3-1 away to EVERTON and they are now on a total of 30 goals and a goal run of eight games. Everton picked up their 12th goal of the season.  Leicester City are still in third place.WEST HAM have moved up to fourth place after they drew 2-2 away to Bournemouth. West Ham are now on a total of 12 goals. TOTTENHAM are in fifth place after they won 2-1 at home to Southampton. They are now on 14 goals. It’s 10 goals fro WOLVES as they win 2-0 at home to Watford. ASTON VILLA drew 2-2 at home to Burnley and they are now on a total of 17 goals. CHELSEA won 2-0 at home to Brighton and they are now on a total of 21 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are top here this week after they won 2-0 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS. West Brom are now on a total of 18 goals and they have now scored in all of their ten games. Rangers picked up their third blank of the season. Nottingham Forest are in third place while LEEDS UNITED have dropped down to fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to Charlton. That is Leeds second blank score sheet. PRESTON are down to fifth place after they drew 3-3 at home to Bristol City. LUTON won 2-1 away to BLACKBURN and they are now on a total of 20 goals after a two game dry spell. Rovers are now on 14 goals and have scored in all of their last five games. DERBY picked up their highest result of the season by winning 3-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Derby are now on 12 goals to Birmingjam’s 9. HUDDERSFIELD are second from bottom as they drew 1-1 at home to Millwall. Huddersfield picked up goal number 8. CARDIFF are now on 11 goals as they drew 2-2 away to Hull. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked up their biggest result to date after they won 4-1 away to MIDDLESBROUGH. Wednesday are now on 16 goals while Brough picked up goal number 11.

LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH are still top after they won 4-1 at home to Tranmere. Ipswich are now on a total of 21 goals. SUNDERLAND are still in fifth place after they won 2-1 at home to MK DONS. Sunderland are now on 23 goals while the Dons are on 18 after a three game dry spell for goals. ROTHERHAM picked up their fourth blank and now two in a row after they lost 1-0 away to Brsitol Rovers. DONCASTER drew 1-1 away to Coventry and that is goal number 12 for them. PETERBOROUGH are now on 23 goals after they won 3-2 at home against AFC Wimbledon. After a two game dry spell, PORTSMOUTH won 1-0 at home to Bolton and that is goal number 15 for them. SOUTHEND picked up their fifth blank after they lost 1-0 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY who are now on 13 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
FOREST GREEN are still our highest team here now in fourth place after they drew won 4-0 away to SALFORD CITY. After a two game dry spell, Forest Green with their highest result of the season, are now on 11 goals while Salford picked up their fourth blank of the season. OLDHAM lost 1-0 away to Carlisle to pick up their fifth blank of the season. LEYTON ORIENT drew 3-3 at home to Port Vale and they are now on a total of 15 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. PLYMOUTH won 1-0 away to MANSFIELD and they are now on 19 goals while Mansfield picked up their fifth blank score sheet. SCUNTHORPE drew 1-1 at home to BRADFORD and they are on 11 goals to Bradford’s 15.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC came from behind once again this week to draw 1-1 away to Hibernian to remain top. Celtic still have that 100% scoring record after nine games. all of their six league games. Celtic are now on a total of 29 goals. Rangers are still in second place and now just one point behind their rivals. HEARTS drew 0-0 away to St Mirren and that is their second blank of the season after a goal run of six games.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still top after they won 2-1 away to Forfar. Rovers have now scored in all of their last eight games and they are now on 24 goals. FALKIRK are still in third place after they drew 0-0 at home to East Fife. Falkirk picked up their fourth blank of the season. PETERHEAD lost 4-3 away to Montrose but they are now on a total of 13 goals.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS have remained top after they win again 3-0 at home against Annan. Rangers are now on a total of 32 goals and they have now extended their goals run to ten games. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 1-1 away to Stirling and they are now on 12 goals.

Our Best team is COVE RANGERS after scoring in all of their last ten of their League/Cup games with a total of 32 goals.

Our worst team is BARNSLEY this weekend as they have picked up just one goal in their last four games played. They have scored just five goals in their ten games played this season.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season are MANCHESTER CITY who won 8-0 against Watford in a league game in Week Eight.  

 GUY DOWSETT is now in his ninth consecutive weekend at the top. Guy picked up eight goals in midweek and another seven goals from the weekend. They came from Cove Rangers and Manchester City, three goals each while Celtic picked up one. Guy’s lead is still nine goals this week in front of Mike Liddle still in second place. Mick has Celtic, Manchester City and Peterborough and he picked up a total of fifteen goals for the week.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their third consecutive weekend there. The Saint has Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday and picked up just five goals this week all from the weekend.
