Week Thirteen

In Week Thirteen of the competition we had our eleventh winner of the season winning on a score of 13 goals. Our winner this weekend was DANIEL HUGHES .Daniel is in his second season with Golden Goals and last season he finished in 78th place with a total of 261 goals. So it’s good news for Daniel as he scopes the full £6 prize money and has moved back into the winning frame. His highest position this season is 14th place in Week One. He has picked up a total of three blank score sheets and this weeks score is his person best of the season to date. His best team is Rangers. Daniel’s teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

We had over half of us that picked up some goals this week and it has changed the order slightly in the race for the cash. We had two players that picked up the most number of midweek goals and they were PHIL COLLINS with six. His teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Norwich. RICHARD WILLIAMS also picked up six from Exeter. His other teams are Celtic and Manchester City. So here is the top five this week. In the lead this week we have RYAN FC now with a total of 39 goals. In second place we still have PAUL MORAN (Mango) and BOB SAWYER both on a total of 36 goals. In third place we have JED WEARDEN with CHRIS SETFORD moving down from one. Both are on a total of 35 goals. In fourth place we still have RAYMOND HARROD with a total of 34 goals. In fifth place we still have STEVE REEVE and SANA-CARLA-LYANNA and joining them is STEVE AYRES down from four. All of us are on a total of 33 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

This weekend we had eleven of our teams not in action over the weekend with another fourteen of them failing to score any goals. The good news is that all but one of us managed to pick up some goals from their combo’s. The weekends average score went up from four of last weekend to 6 goals this week.  The Highest score over the weekend was six goals and they went to PORTSMOUTH from the Second Round of the FA CUP as they won 6-1 at home against non-league King’s Lynn.  Portsmouth are through to the next round with their highest result of the season. They have now scored in all of their last six games and have a total of 38 goals. 

This is Portsmouth’s 23rd season and they are our 50th English team to be voted in to Golden Goals in our third season of 1985/86, where they finished on a total of 82 goals. Their highest score came in the 2002/03 Season with 101 goals. It’s the only season that they have picked up 100 or more goals in a season. last season they finished on a total of 70 goals in our first Covid season. This is their 8th consecutive season with us and they have scored a total of 1504 goals which gives them a total of 65 goals per season. This season they have just three votes and have picked up a total of five blank score sheets in eighteen games played. 

FA Cup Second Round 

We had a total of ten of our teams in this round including Tranmere who played on Friday night. Out of them another four have made it through to the next round. They are Portsmouth with their big win, EXETER will be joining them as they win 3-2 away to Gillingham. Exeter have had a great week with goals and are now on a total of 31and have extended their goal run to ten games. CHELTENHAM won 2-1 at home to CREWE after extra time and have taken their goals total to 29 and have now scored in all of their last eight games. Crewe picked up their 18th goal of the season. PLYMOUTH won 2-0 at home to LINCOLN CITY. Plymouth are now on 28 goals while Lincoln picked up their fourth blank score sheet and just one goal in their last three games. The teams that went out are SALFORD CITY who lost 3-0 away to Newport County and picked up their sixth blank of the season. HARROGATE TOWN lost 4-0 at home to Blackpool and that is their sixth blank score sheet. PETERBOROUGH lost 2-1 at home to non-league Chorley. Borough are now on a total of 26 goals. HULL drew 1-1 after extra time away to Stevenage and then lost 6-5 on penalties. Their single goal takes them up to 29 but they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

TOTTENHAM have remained top of the table still on goals difference after they drew 0-0 away to CHELSEA.  Tottenham picked up their second blank score sheet after a goal run of nine games. Chelsea picked up their third and are still in third place. LIVERPOOL are still in second place after they drew 1-1 away to BRIGHTON. Liverpool are on 29 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. Brighton picked up their 20th goal of the season. Has the sleeping giant been woken up as MANCHESTER CITY picked up their highest score of the season by beating Burnley 5-0 at home. We have not seen much of City this season but they are now on a total of 20 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 1-0 away to EVERTON. Leeds are now on 16 goals as Everton picked up their second blank of the season. WEST BROM won 1-0 at home to Sheffield United and that is goal number 12 for them. MANCHESTER UNITED won their fifth league game after they won 3-2 away to Southampton after going two down by half time. United are now on 22 goals. WOLVES won 2-1 away to ARSENAL and they are now on a total of 11 goals while Arsenal are on 12 goals after a two game dry spell. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

NORWICH are top here after they drew 1-1 at home to Coventry.  Norwich are now on 19 goals. BOURNEMOUTH remain in second place after they drew 2-2 away to ROTHERHAM. Bournemouth are now on a total of 24 goals while Rotherham are now on 15 goals. WATFORD are now in third place after they won 4-1 at home to PRESTON. With their biggest result of the season, Watford are now on a total of 21 goals. Preston picked up their 23rd. BIRMINGHAM drew 0-0 at home to Millwall and that is their seventh blank score sheet. CARDIFF won 4-0 at home to LUTON and with their biggest result of the season, they are now on 17 goals. Luton picked up their sixth blank of the season. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 3-2 away to Huddersfield and they are now on a total of 18 goals. READING won 3-1 at home to BRISTOL CITY. Reading have taken their goals tally to 26 while City picked up goal number 23. STOKE picked up their fifth blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday. SWANSEA won 1-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and that is goal number 16 for them while Forest picked up their eighth blank score sheet and now three in a row. DERBY are still rock bottom of the league after they drew 1-1 at home to Wycombe. After no goals in their last four games, Derby picked up goal number 7. 

LEAGUE ONE 

We had just two games her this weekend where CHARLTON won 2-0 away to IPSWICH which moves them up to third place. Charlton are now on a total of 22 goals. SWINDON won 2-1 away to OXFORD UNITED and are on a total of 20 goals while Oxford are on 18 goals. 

LESGUE TWO 

Just one game here where BOLTON won 3-0 at home against SOUTHEND. It’s 20 goals for Bolton and they have now scored in all of their last six games. Southend picked up their tenth blank score sheet and now two in a row this week. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Scottish Betfred Cup Second Round, we had six of our teams in this round and with two already out of the competition, another five will be joining them. Not a very good round for our Scottish teams as RANGERS will be the only team of ours going through to the next round. They won 4-0 away to FALKIRK and are now our very  best team with 45 goals. Rangers have extended their goal run to twelve games. Falkirk picked up their second blank score sheet after a goal run of eight games. The shock of this round is that CELTIC are out as they lost 2-0 at home to Ross County. That is Celtic’s second blank of the season. Also out are HEARTS as they lost 1-0 away to Alloa after extra time. After a goal run of nine games, Hearts pick up their very first blank score sheet. MOTHERWELL lost 2-1 at home to St Johnstone and they are now on 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last eight games. ABERDEEN lost 2-1 away to St Mirren and that is goal number 21 for them. 

In League One, COVE RANGERS are down to second place after they drew 1-1 away to Airdrie and picked up goal number 14. 

In League Two, STENHOUSEMIUR lost 3-1 away to Queen’s Park and are now on a total of 14 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals. They are 

RANGERS (45) PORTSMOUTH (38) CELTIC (34) Total of 117 goals 

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE 

DERBY (7) NOTTINGHAM FOREST (9) SOUTHEND (9) Total of 25 goals 

Our Best team is HULL after scoring in all of their last seventeen league/cup games out of 18 played. They have a total of 29 goals which gives them an average score of 1.6 goals per game.  

Our worst team this weekend is still DERBY who have scored just four goals in their last ten games played. 

SOUTHEND have picked up the most number of blank score sheets with ten out of sixteen games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are RANGERS their 8-0 win at home against Hamilton in the league in Week Ten.

JED WEARDEN has remained at the top again this weekend for his fifth consecutive week. Jed picked up a total of eight goals from the week. Jed’s teams are Brentford, Liverpool and Rangers. He is now four goals in front of Keith Thomson who has moved up to second place this week. At the other end at 116 we still have Jacqui Rattle who has remained there for her sixth weekend running. Jacqui picked up a total of nine goals this week from her teams of Arsenal, Manchester City and Wolves.   

Another week and another change in the top ten this week.
