Week Fifteen

Here we are with Week Fifteen of the competition and we had another player to pick up the full £5 Weekend Jackpot. Our winner won on a score of 12 goals and they are MANGO (Paul Moran) which now means that we have had a total of twenty winners in our 40th Season. 

Paul started with us back in the 1994/95 Season but sadly we do not have the end of season records anymore. But last season Paul finished in the winning frame in 11th place with a total of 309 goals. This season even though he slip through the net with Celtic and Manchester City this season,  Paul has picked up two blank weekend score sheets and this is the highest that he has been thanks to MK Dons this week. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

Only 38 of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week which means just a slight change in the top five. HAYLEY ADKINS and FIONA CARTHY both picked up the most number of goals with four each. 

HAYLEY ADKINS Jumps back into the lead this week with a total of 35 goals. In second place this week is NICK HORTON with a total of 34 goals. In third place down from two is RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion with a total of 32 goals. In fourth place is JACQUI RATTLE with a total of 31 goals. In joint fifth place all with a total of 28 goals we still have JAMES BLYTH, but down from three we now have STEVE AYRES, GEOFF CARTHY and MARK GREGORY. In sixth place all on 27 goals we still  have BARBARA BARNES (2), GUY DOWSETT (1) and TERENCE WARWICK. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had six of our teams without a game this weekend and we had eleven teams that failed to score any goals. We had another fairly good weekend once again as the average score for this weekend went down from six goals, last weekend, back down to 5 goals this weekend. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. 

The highest score that we had was six goals and they came from the FA CUP first round where MK DONS beat non-league Taunton Town 6-0 at home. With their biggest result of the season, MK Dons are now on a total of 24 goals. 

Mk Dons started with us in the 2007/08 Season on where they became our 103rd team to enter Golden Goals. In their first season they netted a total of 88 goals. In the 2014/15 Season they finished with their highest score of 115 goals and it’s the only time that they have hit 100 goals. Last time out was in the covid 2019/20 Season  and they finished with just 42 goals. This is their 12th Season with us and they have scored a total of 846 goals over the years. That now gives them an average score of 70 goals per season. This season they have picked up a total of four votes and eight blank score sheets.

FA CUP First Round 

We already know that MK DONS and SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are through to the second round, but what about the rest of our teams. We had a total of 17 teams in cup action but only seven have made it through to the next round. They are MANSFIELD who won 1-0 away to Barrow and they are on a total of 27 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS won 1-0 at home to Rochdale and they are on a total of 28 goals and a goal run of eight games. CHARLTON won 4-1at home to non-league Coalville Town and that now gives them a total of 33 goals. FOREST GREEN ROVERS won 2-0 away to non-league South Shields and they are on a total of 19 goals. STOCKPORT COUNTY won 4-0 at home to SWINDON. With their biggest win of the season, Stockport are now on a total of 26 goals. Swindon picked up their 6th blank of the season. 

Teams that are in replays are GILLINGHAM who drew 1-1 away to non-league AFC Fylde and picked up goal number nine. PETERBOROUGH drew 0-0 at home to SALFORD CITY. Peterborough after a goal run of eight games picked up their 5th blank of  the season. Salford picked up their 6th. AFC WIMBLEDON drew 1-1 away to non-league Weymouth and they are on a total of 21 goals. DERBY drew 2-2 away to non-league Torquay and they are on a total of 25 goals. 

Other teams that are out of the cup are BRADFORD CITY who lost 1-0 at home to Harrogate Town and that is their 6th blank of the season. LINCOLN CITY lost 1-0 away to non-league Chippenham and they have now had a total of seven blank score sheets. CRAWLEY TOWN lost 4-1 at home to Accrington Stanley and they are on a total of 22 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 4-1 away to Grimsby and they are on a total of 37 goals and they have now scored in all of their last sixteen games. SUTTON UNITED lost 2-0 at home to non-league Farnborough and that is their 8th blank of the season and now two in a row.

PREMIER LEAGUE 

ARSENAL have remained on top again this week and are still two points in front as they win 1-0 away to London rivals CHELSEA. Arsenal are on a total of 31 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after a total of thirteen league/cup games. Chelsea picked up their 3rd blank of the season. MANCHESTER CITY in second place won 2-1 at home against FULHAM and they are on a total of 39 goals while Fulham are on 23. NEWCASTLE are now in third place after  they won 4-1 away to Southampton.  Newcastle have taken their goals tally to 30. EVERTON lost 2-0 at home to LEICESTER CITY and that is their 6th blank of the season and now two in a row. Everton have netted just three goals in their last five games. Leicester are on a total of 23 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 4-3 at home to BOURNEMOUTH. Leeds with their biggest win of the season are now on a total of 22 goals while Bourenmouth are on 17 goals. BRIGHTON won 3-2 away to Wolves and are now on a total of 25 goals. ASTON VILLA won 3-1 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED and are now on a total of 18 goals. United picked up goal number 18. TOTTENHAM lost 2-1 at home to LIVERPOOL and are on a total of 27 goals while Liverpool are on 25. WEST HAM lost 2-1 at home to London rivals CYSTAL PALACE and are on a total of 12 goals. Palace are on a total of 17 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

BURNLEY are still at the top of the league after they lost 5-2 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED. Burnley are on a total of 38 goals and they have extended their goal run to eighteen games. Sheffield United with their biggest result of the season have taken their goals total to 34. HUDDERFIELD are now bottom of the table after they lost 1-0 away to Blackburn Rovers. Huddersfield have now had a total of seven blank score sheets and now two in a row. LUTON won 1-0 away to Blackpool and are on a total of 24 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1 at home to Bristol City and they are on 24 goals. WEST BROM won 1-0 away to QPR and they are on a total of 23 goals. NORWICH won 2-1 away to Rotherham and they are on a total of 32 goals. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 at home to Cardiff and that is their 7th blank of  the season. SWANSEA  drew 2-2 at home to Wigan and they are on a total of 27 goals. WATFORD picked up their 5th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Coventry. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS 

In the Premiership  CELTIC are now seven points in the lead as they win 4-2 at home to Dundee Utd. Celtic are now on a total of 54 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. Celtic have won all of their last five league games. RANGERS are still in second place after they lost their second league game 2-1 away to St Johnston. Rangers are on a total of 36 goals and a goal run of eight games. Ten men HEARTS won 3-2 at home to Motherwell to take their goals tally up to 23. 

In League One KELTY HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to ALLOA and they are on a total of 16 goals while Alloa hit goal number 31. 

In League Two BONNYRIGG ROSE lost 3-2 at home to Elgin and they are on a total of 24 goals and a goal run of seven games. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 2-2 at home to East Fife and they are on a total of 33 goals. Stenhousemuir have now scored in all of their last eleven games. 

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are 

GILLINGHAM (9) EVERTON (12) WEST HAM (12) Total of 33 goals 

Our best performing team are BURNLEY as they have now scored in all of their last eighteen league/cup games played. They have a total of 37 goals. That gives them an average score of 1.7 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up eleven blank score sheets out of nineteen League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five. 

TONY GUY our 2010/11 Champion with his second selection, has remained at number one spot for his 2nd weekend, as he picks up a total of  7 goals this week from his teams of  Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday. Mark Gregory has remained in second place this weekend, after he picked up a total of  8 goals from the weekend. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich. 

At the other end at 108 we still have MANDY WRIGHT who picked up 6 goals all coming from the weekend. Mandy has now been here for three weeks and now eleven weeks over the season. Mandy’s teams are Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham.

Not a bad weekend for goals so things have calm down a bit.
