Week Sixteen

Here we are with Week Sixteen of the competition and we had two players to share the £5 Weekend Jackpot. Our winners won on a score of 9 goals each and they are MARK LIPMAN and JAMES WISE. This now means that we have had a total of twenty-one winners in our 40th Season as one of them has already won this season. That person is Mark who is new to the competition this season. Mark last won back in Week Two in our first Rollover of the season with nine goals. Since then Mark has picked up two blank score sheets and 10th place is his highest to date. His best team is Celtic. James started with us back in the 2013/14 Season where he finished in the winning frame in 25th place with a total of 299 goals. He also picked up two weekend wins. Last season he finished 100th place on 222 goals and one weekend win. This season he has picked up just one blank score sheet. His highest position to date is 6th place which started last weekend. Celtic is also his best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

All but three of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week which means just a slight change in the top five. BARBARA BARNES (1) picked up the most number of goals with nine coming from Bournemouth, Brighton and Manchester City. 

In the lead this week we have NICK HORTON with a total of 39 goals. His teams are Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Norwich. In second place we have last weeks leader HAYLEY ADKINS with a total of 38 goals. In third place we still have RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion with a total of 35 goals. In fourth place we still JACQUI RATTLE but she is now joined with JAMES BLYTH up from five both with a total of 34 goals. In fifth place with a total of 32 goals we still have MARK GREGORY. In sixth place both on 31 goals we have STEVE AYRES down from five and TERENCE WARWICK. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just one of our teams without a game this weekend and we had thirteen teams that failed to score any goals. We had yet another good weekend once again as the average score for this weekend remained at 5 goals for the second weekend running. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score that we had was five goals and they came from the Scottish League One where ALLOA won 5-1 at home to Queen of South which takes their goals total to 36 and a goal run of six games. 

Alloa became our 14th voted Scottish team when they joined in the 1993/94 Season. In that season they finished on a total of 47 goals. Their highest score and their last time out in Golden Goals was in the 2018/19 Season with 52 goals. So this is their third season with us and they have now scored a total of 146 goals over the years. This now gives them an average score of 48 goals per season to date.

PREMIER LEAGUE

These are the last Premier League matches until after the World Cup tournament they will resume on 26 December. 

ARSENAL have remained on top again this week and are now five points in front as they win 2-0 away to Wolves. Arsenal are on a total of 34 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after a total of fifteen league/cup games. MANCHESTER CITY in second place lost their second league game 2-1 at home to Brentford. City are on a total of 42 goals. NEWCASTLE are still in third place after  they won 1-0 at home to CHELSEA  Newcastle have taken their goals tally to 31 while Chelsea picked up their 5th blank score sheet and now they have failed to score in their last three games. BOURNEMOUTH won 3-0 at home to EVERTON and they are now on a total of 24 goals picking up a total of 12 goals in their last four games. Everton picked up their 7th blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games. LIVERPOOL won 3-1 at home to Southampton and they are now on a total of 28 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest and they have now had a total of six blank score sheets and now two in a row. TOTTENHAM won 4-3 at home against LEEDS UNITED. Tottenham have taken their goals tally to 31while Leeds are now on a total of 25 goals. WEST HAM lost 2-0 at home to LEICESTER CITY and that is their 7th blank of the season. Leicester are on a total of 28 goals. BRIGHTON lost 2-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and they are on a total of 29 goals while Villa are on 22 goals. FULHAM lost 2-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. Both teams are on a total of 24 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

These are the last Championship results until they will resume on 10 December.

BURNLEY are still at the top of the league after they  won 3-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers.  Burnley are on a total of 44 goals and they have extended their goal run to twenty games. SHEFFIELD UNITED move up to second place after they won 1-0 away to Cardiff. United are on a total of 35 goals. WATFORD picked up their 6th blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to Bristol City. READING won 2-1 away to Hull and they are on 24 goals. LUTON drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham and they are on a total of 25 goals. NORWICH lost 2-1 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH and they are on a total of 33 goals. Brough are on 29 goals. WEST BROM won 2-0 at home to Stoke. West Brom are on a total of 25 goals. HUDDERSFIELD are still bottom of the league after they drew 0-0 at home to SWNSEA. Huddersfield picked up their 8th blank of the season and now just two goals in their last four games. Swansea picked up their 6th blank score sheet.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table PLYMOUTH drew 1-1 away to LINCOLN CITY and they are on a total of 38 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. Lincoln are on 27 goals. IPSWICH in second place drew 1-1 at home to Cheltenham and they are on a total of 39 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 1-0 away to Accrington and they are on a total of 42 goals and a goal run of thirteen games. It’s 30 goals for BRISTOL ROVERS after they drew 2-2 at home to Fleetwood. Rovers have now scored in all of their last nine games. PETERBOROUGH lost 3-2 away to Exeter and they are on a total of 36 goals. MK DONS lost 3-1 at home to DERBY. The Dons are are on a total of 27 goals while Derby are now on a total of 28 goals. OXFORD UNITED won 4-0 at home to Port Vale. Oxford are now on a total of 26 goals and a goal run of seven games.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are now BRADFORD CITY in fourth place. They won 2-0 away to SUTTON UNITED. Bradford are on a total of 28 goals while Sutton picked up their 9th blank and now three games without a goal. CRAWLEY TOWN won 1-0 at home to Barrow and they are on a total of 24 goals and a goal run of seven games. GILLINGHAM lost 2-0 at home to Northampton to pick up their 12th blank of the season. They have now scored just two goals in their last four games. STOCKPORT COUNTY won 2-1 away to Newport and they are on a total of 28 goals. MANSFIELD TOWN won 1-0 away to Rochdale and they are on a total of 29 goals. SALFORD CITY drew 0-0 at home to AFC WIMBLEDON. Salford picked up their 8th blank score sheet and now four in a row. Wimbledon picked up their 7th. SWINDON drew 1-1 at home to Tranmere and they are on a total of 24 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership  can we already crown CELTIC Champions as they win again 2-1 at home to Ross County. Celtic are now nine points in the lead and they are on a total of 58 goals. They have now scored in all of their last nine games. Celtic have won all of their last five league games. RANGERS are still in second place after they drew 1-1 away to St Mirren.

Rangers are on a total of 38 goals and a goal run of ten games. ABERDEEN are in third place after they won 1-0 at home to Dundee Utd. Aberdeen are on a total of 49 goals and a goal run of seven games. HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to Livingston to take their goals tally up to 24. HIBERNIAN lost 1-0 away to Kilmarnock and that is their 5th blank of the season and now two in a row.

In League One KELTY HEARTS lost 3-1 at home to Montrose and they are on a total of 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games.

In League Two BONNYRIGG ROSE drew 1-1 away to Forfar and they are on a total of 25 goals and a goal run of eight games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-2 away to Stranraer and they are on a total of 35 goals. Stenhousemuir have now scored in all of their last twelve games.

Our best performing team are BURNLEY as they have now scored in all of their last twenty league/cup games played. They have a total of 44 goals. That gives them an average score of 1.9 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up twelve blank score sheets out of twenty-one League/Cup games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with his second selection, has remained at number one spot for his 3rd weekend running. Tony picked up a total of  9 goals this week from his teams of  Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday. Mark Gregory has remained in second place this weekend, after he picked up a total of 8 goals from the weekend once again. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich. 

At the other end at 108 we now have SANDRA NICHOLLS back there as she picked up a total of 9 goals from the week. Sandra has now been here for four weeks over the season. Sandra’s teams are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

There are no big changes in the table for the top ten this week
