In Week Twenty-One of the competition, and it’s the start of the second half of the season here at Golden Goals. we had our Christmas Jackpot of £10 to give to this weekend’s lucky winner. That went to SCOTT THOMSON (1) which now means that we have had a total of 23 winners this season. Scott won on a score of 12 goals which is his personal best.
Scott started with Golden Goals back in the 2006/07 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 17th place with a total of 261 goals. Since a few season’s back, Scott has had 2 combinations each season. Last season they both finished in the winning frame. His his first selection finished in 7th place with 319 goals and his second finished in 26th place with 305 goals. He also picked up a Rollover at the weekend. All but one of us managed to pick up some goals during midweek on Boxing Day, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed again from last week. The highest score went to DAVE SOMERVILLE our 2009/10 Champion with 12 goals. They came from Bromley, Celtic and Liverpool
Back out in front this week we have BARBARA BARNES (2) now with a total of 50 goals, which means that she is at the half-way point to the jackpot of £25. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place we have last weeks leader ALFIE DIMMOCK now with a total of 48 goals. In third place we still have MARTIN CORBETT now with a total of 47 goals. In fourth place up from five we have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion with 45 goals. In fifth place we have back in, STEVE STUBBS (2) with a total of 43 goals. WE then have a total of six players all on a total of 42 goals.
WEEKEND RESULTS
We had 9 of our teams without a game this weekend and another 10 of teams that failed to score any goals. Although some of our top teams did not play over the weekend we really had a good weekend once again. The average score this weekend, moved down one from last weeks six, to 5 goals. So if you have done better than that? Well done.
The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals once again and they came from the Premier League LIVERPOOL and from League Two, NOTTS COUNTY. Here are the rest of the weekend results from our last league fixture for 2024.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Top of the table LIVERPOOL won 5-0 away to WEST HAM UNITED. Liverpool have taken their goals total to 55 and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. West Ham after a goal run of 7 league/cup games, picked up their fourth blank of the season. MANCHESTER CITY won 2-0 away to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Leicester picked up their fifth blank of the season. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-1 at home to bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON. Palace are on a total of 30 goals, while Southampton after they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, picked up goal number 22. AFC BOURNEMOUTH drew 2-2 away to Fulham and are on a total of 26 goals. TOTTENHAM drew 2-2 at home to Wolves and are on a total of 49 goals.
CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED go back to the top after they won 1-0 away to Derby and are on a total of 44 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. SHEFFIELD UNITED are down to second place after they drew 1-1 to WBA, United are on a total of 37 goals. NORWICH CITY drew 1-1 at home to QPR and are on a total of 44 goals. PRESTON NE won 3-1 at home against Sheffield Wednesday and are now on a total of 34 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. PORTSMOUTH lost 3-0 away to Bristol City and picked up their ninth blank of the season. MILLWALL drew 0-0 away to Coventry and that is also their ninth blank of the season. OXFORD UNITED won 2-0 at home to Plymouth and are on a total of 28 goals. SWANSEA CITY won 2-1 at home to LUTON TOWN and are on a total of 32 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Luton picked up goal number 27. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 0-0 at home to BURNLEY and that is their seventh blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. Burnley picked up their ninth blank score sheet of the season.

BIRMINGHAM CITY are still in second place after they drew 0-0 at home to BLACKPOOL. After a goal run of 13 league/cup games, City picked up their third blank of the season. Blackpool picked up their seventh blank score sheet. WREXHAM are in third place after they won 2-1 at home to Wigan. Wrexham are on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. CHARLTON won 2-1 at home to Wycombe and are on a total of 35 goals. BOLTON won 3-0 at home to Lincoln City and are now on a total of 37 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN drew 1-1 at home to Burton and picked up goal number 41. PETERBOROUGH UNITED lost 3-1 at home to BARNSLEY and are on a total of 47 goals. Barnsley are on 39 goals.
LEAGUE TWO
The highest team that we now have in this league is now NOTTS COUNTY in second place after they won 5-3 away to Cheltenham. County are now on a total of 46 goals. DONCASTER ROVERS remain in third place after they drew 1-1 away to Colchester and are on a total of 37 goals. BROMLEY drew 1-1 at home to Swindon and are on a total of 38 goals. CHESTERFIELD lost 2-1 away to Bradford and picked up goal number 41. MK DONS drew 1-1 at home to Crewe and are on a total of 34 goals.
SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, Champions CELTIC remained top this week after they won 4-0 at home to St Johnstone. Celtic have now taken their goals tally to 69. RANGERS remain in second place after they drew 2-2 away to Motherwell. Rangers are on a total of 41 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. KILMARNOCK lost 1-0 away to Hibernian and picked up their eighth blank of the season. ROSS COUNTY drew 2-2 at home to HEARTS and are on a total of 29 goals, while Hearts are on 23 goals. After they had failed to score in their previous 3 games, DUNDEE won 2-1 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 53 goals.
In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are in second place after they won 3-1 away to Alloa. Stenhousemuir are now on a total of 38 goals. COVE RANGERS picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 4-1 away to Inverness CT and have taken their goals total to 35.
In League Two PETERHEAD are down to second place after they lost 2-0 away to Elgin City. Peterhead after a goal run of 9 league/cup games, picked up their seventh blank of the season. CLYDE drew 1-1 away to Stranraer and are on a total of 33 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.
JED WEARDEN has remained at the top for his third weekend and now four over the season. Jed picked up a total of 17 goals from the week and his teams are Celtic, Liverpool and Peterborough. Geoff Dockerill our 1994/95 Champion, has remained in second place, as his teams picked up a total of 17 goals from the week. Geoff’s teams are Arsenal, Celtic, and Liverpool.
At the other end at 114 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY with his seventh consecutive weekend. Charlie’s teams picked up 12 goals from the weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.
