In Week Seventeen of the competition we had two players to share the Weekend Prize Money of £5. They are MARK GREGORY and BRUCE SELF which now means that we have had a total of 18 winners this season. Both won on a score of 14 goals,
Mark started with Golden Goals back in the 2008/09 season on where he finished in 49th place with a total of 251 goals. His teams then were Birmingham, Manchester United and Rangers. Last season he finished in 61st place with 291 goals. This season he has picked up just 2 blank weekend score sheets and this weekend is his personal best score. His best team is Celtic.
Bruce started with us in the 2006/07 season with his teams of Celtic, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. They collected a total of 260 goals and finished him in the winning frame in 18th place. He also had 1 shared weekend win. Last season he finished in 83rd place with 279 goals. This season Bruce has had a total of 3 blank weekend score sheets and this is also his personal best score. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Just over half of us managed to pick up some goals during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed a lot from last weeks leaders. The highest score went to STEVE STUBBS (2) with 9 goals. They came from Celtic, Leeds Utd and Norwich City.
Still out in front we have BARBARA BARNES (2) who’s lead has now been cut to just 3 goals. Barbara has a total of 36 goals. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place we still have ALFIE DIMMOCK now with a total of 33 goals. In third place we now have PHIL COLLINS up from four and ANTHONY POMERANTZ joins the race, both are on a total of 32 goals. In joint fourth place all on a total of 31 goals we have DAVID BARRETT down from two, STEVE STUBBS (2) and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion down from three. In fifth place we now have KEAMUS SETNA our 2005/06 Champion coming back in the frame.
WEEKEND RESULTS
We had 8 of our teams without a game this weekend and another 7 of teams that failed to score any goals. So we had a really good weekend with the average score moving up from six goals last weekend, to 7 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals, and we had 3 of our teams that reached that score. They are ARSENAL, CELTIC and STENHOUSEMUIR. Here are the weekend results.
FA CUP 2nd Round
We had 10 of our teams in cup action and out of them, only 5 have made it through to the next round. The teams through are PETERBOROUGH after they won 4-3 at home to NOTTS COUNTY. Borough are now on a total of 40 goals while County, after they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, are now on a total of 34 goals. CHARLTON won 4-0 away to Walsall and have taken their goals tally to 25. DONCASTER ROVERS won 2-1 in extra time against non league Kettering Town away, after going a goal down. Rovers are on a total of 27 goals. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-1 away to BLACKPOOL and are on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Blackpool are on a total of 33 goals. BROMLEY won 2-1 away to non league Solihull Moors and are on a total of 26 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Teams that went out are BARNSLEY after they drew 0-0 after extra time against Bristol Rovers and then lost 4-3 on penalties. That is Barnsley’s fifth blank of the season. CHESTERFIELD lost 2-0 away to Exeter City and picked up their fourth blank of the season. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 2-1 at home to non league Dagenham & Redbridge and picked up goal number 32.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Top of the table LIVERPOOL won 2-0 to beat last season’s champions MANCHESTER CITY at home. Liverpool are now 9 points in front and have taken their goals total to 34 goals and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games. City have now lost their fourth consecutive league game, and their second consecutive blank score sheet. In joint second place we now have ARSENAL who beat London rivals WEST HAM 5-2 away. Arsenal have now taken their goals tally to 34 while West Ham are on a total of 19 goals. With Arsenal is CHELSEA after they won 3-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and are now on a total of 31 goals while Villa picked up their fourth blank of the season. LEICESTER CITY lost 4-1 away to Brentford and are on a total of 22 goals.CRYSTAL PALACE drew 1-1 at home to NEWCASTLE and are on a total of 19 goals, while Newcastle are on 18 goals. IPSWICH TOWN lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest and that is their fourth blank of the season. AFC BOURNEMOUTH picked up their biggest result of the season as they won 4-2 away to Wolves. Bournemouth have taken their goals total to 20 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. MANCHESTER UNITED won 4-0 at home to Everton and have taken their goals tally up to 29 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM drew 1-1 at home to Fulham and are on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.
CHAMPIONSHIP
With Sheffield United top of the table with BURNLEY now in second place after they won 2-0 away to Stoke City. Burnley are on a total of 23 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH won 3-1 at home to Hull City and are now on a total of 35 goals. OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 at home to MILLWALL and are on a total of 22 goals while Millwall hit goal number 21and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. LEEDS UNITED lost 1-0 away to Blackburn Rovers and picked up their sixth blank of the season. NORWICH won 4-2 at home against LUTON TOWN and have taken their goals tally to 39 goals. Luton are on a total of 21 goals. PRESTON NE drew 1-1 at home to WBA and are on a total of 25 goals. It’s 20 goals for SWANSEA CITY after they drew 2-2 at home to PORTSMOUTH. Portsmouth are on 18 goals.
SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the SCOTTISH CUP 3rd Round games, we had just 3 teams in this round. Two have made it through to the next round. They are COVE RANGERS who won 2-0 at home to Inverness CT and are on a total of 28 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR won 5-0 away to non league Irvine Meadows and have taken their goals tally up to 27. The team that went out are PETERHEAD who lost 3-2 at home to Montrose and are on a total of 32 goals and have a goal run of 5 league/cup games.
In the Premiership, top of the table CELTIC went 5-0 up at half time against ROSS COUNTY at home, but they failed to add more. Celtic have now scored in all of their 16 league/cup games. They have taken their goals total to 54 and well on course now to reach yet another 100 goals. County picked up their ninth blank of the season. RANGERS won 1-0 away to St Johnstone and are on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, KILMARNOCK drew 1-1 at home to DUNDEE and are on a total of 16 goals. Dundee are on a total of 47 goals. HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to Aberdeen and picked up goal number 16.
In League Two EAST FIFE are down to second place after they drew 1-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of 36 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.
We have yet another new leader this week on goal difference, and they are MARK GREGORY who become our fifth player this season. Mark picked up a total of 14 goals at the weekend and his teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Peterborough. Jed Wearden moves down to second place as his teams picked up a total of 11 goals from the week. Jed’s teams are Celtic, Liverpool and Peterborough.
At the other end at 114 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY with his third consecutive weekend. Charlie’s teams picked up 6 goals this weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.
