Week Eighteen

 In Week Eighteen of the competition we had two players to share the Weekend Prize Money of £5 once again. They are ALICE STUBBS (2) and JANE STUBBS which now means that we have had a total of 20 winners this season. Both won on a score of 9 goals,

Alice started with Golden Goals back in the 2012/13 season on where she became our Champion. She won on a total of 318 goals which puts her in 15th place in our Champions League. Alice has won with her 2nd selection this weekend and the highest that this one has been is third place in Week Eight. She has had 3 blank weekend score sheets with this combination. Celtic is her best team. 

Jane is in her fourth season with us although she first appeared in the 2008/09 Season. Jane finished in 29th place with a total of 263 goals. She also had 2 weekend wins. Last time with us was in the 20010/11 season where Jane finished in 104th place with 207 goals. This season Jane has been as high as 57th place in Week Three and has picked up a total of 3 blank weekend score sheets. Chelsea is her best team. Their winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but one of us managed to pick up some goals during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed a lot from last weeks leaders. The highest score went to DOUG MORBEY and JANE STYUBBS with 14 goals each. Doug has Chelsea, Liverpool and Rangers, while Jane has Chelsea, Newcastle and Rangers. Still out in front we have BARBARA BARNES (2) who’s lead has now been cut down again, to just 1 goal. Barbara now has a total of 40 goals. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place we now have DAVID BARRETT up from four with a total of 39 goals. In third place we have ALFIE DIMMOCK down from two now with a total of 38 goals. In fourth place we still have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion with a total of 35 goals. In fifth place we have 4 players all on a total of 34 goals. They are ANTHONY POMERANTZ down from three, KEAMUS SETNA our 2005/06 Champion, SCOTT THOMSON (1) and MARK UNSTEAD.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had yet another storm that cancelled only a few games over the weekend. We had 10 of our teams without a game this weekend and another 6 of teams that failed to score any goals. We had some really good midweek results, but the weekend has let us down as the average score moves down from seven goals last weekend, to just 5 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done. 

The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from 2 of our teams. From the Scottish League One we had STENHOUSEMUIR. and the Premier League CHELSEA. Here are the weekend results.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Liverpool, top of the table, had their game cancelled due to the storm. CHELSEA are in second place after they beat TOTTENHAM 4-3 away. Chelsea have taken their goals tally up to 40 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games, while Tottenham are now on 35. In third place we have ARSENAL who drew 1-1 away to Fulham and are on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA won 1-0 at home to bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON and are on a total of 26 goals. Southampton picked up their sixth blank of the seasson. NEWCASTLE lost 4-2 away to Brentford and are on a total of 23 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 2-2 at home to MANCHESTER CITY and are on a total of 22 goals. City are on 30 goals.MANCHESTER UNITED lost 3-2 at home to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 31 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, IPSWICH TOWN lost 2-1 at home against AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 16 goals. Bournemouth are on 23 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. LEICESTER CITY drew 2-2 at home to Brighton and are on a total of 27 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are still on top after they drew 2-2 away to WBA and are on a total of 31 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. LEEDS UNITED won 2-0 at home to Derby and are on a total of 33 goals.  PRESTON NE drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday and picked up goal number 26. After a goal run of 8 league/cup games, MILLWALL picked up their sixth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Coventry. PORTSMOUTH won 3-0 at home against Bristol City and they are now on a total of 21 goals. NORWICH CITY lost 3-0 away to QPR and that is their sixth blank of the season. LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 at home to SWANSEA CITY and are on a total of 22 goals. Swansea are also on 22 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

WREXHAM are in second place on goal difference after they won 1-0 away to Burton and picked up their 30th goal of the season. CHARLTON drew 0-0 away to Lincoln City and that is their fifth blank of the season. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-1 away to BARNSLEY and are on a total of 36 goals and have extended their goal run to 10 league/cup games. Barnsley are on a total of 40 goals. HUDDERSFIELD won 2-1 away to Mansfield Town and are on a total of 32 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have in this league is DONCASTER ROVERS in third place. They drew 2-2 at home to Cheltenham Town and are on a total of 33 goals. It’s 30 goals for BROMLEY after they won 2-1 away to Accrington. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, CHESTERFIELD won 3-0 at home to Tranmere Rovers and are now on a total of 37 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON won 3-0 away to Harrogate Town and are now on a total of 37 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, is it too early to crown CELTIC champions already? Well they won their 14th league game 3-0 at home to Hibernian. Celtic have now scored in all of their 18 league/cup games to keep their 100% scoring record. They have taken their goals total to 58. RANGERS in third place won 3-0 away to ROSS COUNTY and are on a total of 34 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. County picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet and now 10 over the season. KILMARNOCK drew 1-1 away to Dundee Utd and are on a total of 17 goals. HEARTS won their third league game 2-0 at home to DUNDEE. Hearts are on a total of 18 goals while Dundee, after a goal run of 5 games, picked up their fourth blank of the season.

In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are top now after they won 4-0 at home to Dumbarton. Stenhousemuir have taken their goals tally to 34 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. COVE RANGERS drew 1-1 away to Annan and picked up goal number 29.

In League Two EAST FIFE are back at the top after they won their 8th league game 2-1 at home against Elgin City. Fife are on a total of 38 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. CLYDE won their third league game 3-2 at home to PETERHEAD. Clyde are now on a total of 26 goals while Peterhead are on 34 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

Our WORST three teams are

 IPSWICH (16) KILMARNOCK (17) HEARTS (18) Total of 51 goals

Our best performing team is CELTIC after they have now scored in all of their last 18 League/cup games. They have a total of 58 goals which gives them an average score of 3.2 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is ROSS COUNTY this weekend as they have had a total of 10th blank score sheet from 21 league/cup games. They have a total of 22 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

BARBARA BARNES (2) has moved back to the top for the fifth time this season. Barbara picked up a total of 12 goals from the week and her teams are once again Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. Mark Gregory moves down to second place as his teams picked up a total of 7 goals from the week. Mark’s teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Peterborough.

At the other end at 114 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY with his fourth consecutive weekend. Charlie’s teams picked up 8 goals this week. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

We had a really good week for goals and hope that the run up to Christmas will continue. The table is beginning to settle down this week.
