It was not the sort of Boxing Day results that we were hoping for, but here they all are. In the Premier League, leaders LIVERPOOL won 3-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are now on a total of 50 goals and have now exended their goal run to 16 league/cup games. Leicester are on 28 goals after they had failed in their previous 2 games. Second place CHELSEA lost 2-1 at home to Fulham and are on a total of 43 goals. MANCHESTER CITY drew 1-1 at home to Everton and are on a total of 33 goals and a goal run of 5 league/cup games. AFC BOURNEMOUTH drew 0-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and picked up their fifth blank of the season after a goal run of 11 league/cup games. Palace picked up their sixth after a goal run of 7 league/cup games. NEWCASTLE won 3-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and are now on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Villa picked up their fifth blank of the season. TOTTENHAM picked up their fourth blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest. Bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON lost 1-0 at home to WEST HAM UNITED. Southampton have now had a total of nine blank score sheets and now 2 in a row. They have scored just 1 goal in their last 5 league/cup games. West Ham are on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 2-0 away to Wolves and that is their seventh blank score sheet and now 2 in a row.
In the Championship LEEDS UNITED are now top of the table on goal difference after they won 2-0 away to Stoke City and are on a total of 43 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. SHEFFIELD UNITED in second place lost their third league game, 2-0 at home to BURNLEY. United picked up their fifth blank of the season after a goal run of 11 league/cup games. Burnley are on a total of 30 goals. LUTON TOWN lost 1-0 away to Bristol City and that is their sixth blank of the season. MIDDLEBROUGH drew 3-3 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and are now on a total of 44 goals and a goal run of 6 league/cup games. NORWICH CITY won 2-1 at home against MILLWALL and are on a total of 43 goals, while Millwall are on 23 goals. OXFORD UNITED won 3-2 at home to Cardiff and are now on a total of 26 goals. PRESTON NE won 1-0 at home to Hull City and are on a total of 31 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. It’s 30 goals for SWANSEA CITY after they won 3-0 at home to QPR. Swansea have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. PORTSMOUTH are on 26 goals after they lost 2-1 away to Watford.
In League One, top of the table BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-0 at home to Burton and are on a total of 41 goals and have extended their goal run to 13 league/cup games. BARNSLEY won 2-1 away to BOLTON and are on a total of 36 goals while Bolton picked up their 34th goal of the season after they failed to score in their previous 2 games. PETERBOROUGH lost 3-0 at home to Mansfield and picked up their seventh blank score sheet. In League Two AFC WIMBLEDON drew 1-1 at home against Swindon and picked up goal number 39. BROMLEY picked up their biggest resul of the season after they won 5-2 at home to Newport County. Bromley have taken their goals tally up to 37. CHESTERFIELD lost 2-0 away to Fleetwood and picked up their sixth blank of the season. MK DONS lost 2-0 at home to NOTTS COUNTY and picked up their eighth blank of the season. County are on a total of 41 goals. DONCASTER ROVERS lost 2-0 away to Walsall and picked up their seventh blank score sheet.
In the Scottish Premiership, I think we can say now, that CELTIC are Champions once again. They won 4-0 at home against Motherwell to win their 15th league game out of 17. Celtic have taken their goals tally to 65. RANGERS have remained in second place 12 points behind Celtic now, after they lost 2-1 away to St Mirren. Rangers picked up goal number 39 and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. HEARTS lost 2-1 at home to Hibernian and are on a total of 21 goals. DUNDEE lost 3-0 at home to ROSS COUNTY and picked up their sixth blank and now they have failed to score in their last 3 games. County are now on a total of 27 goals. KILMARNOCK picked up their biggest result to date after they won 4-0 at home to Aberdeen and have taken their goals total to 23.
