Week Twenty-Two

In Week Twenty-Two of the competition we had two winners to share the Christmas Weekend Jackpot of £10. They are TONY KING and JAMES WISE with a score of 10 goals each but only one of them has had his first win of the season and that is Tony, who becomes our twenty-fourth winner of the season.
Tony has been with us from the very first season and where he finished in the winning frame in third place with a total of 295 goals. Last season he finished in 101st place with 262 goals. He had two weekend wins worth just over £7 in cash. This season Tony has been as high as 22nd place in Week Seven. He has picked up just two blank score sheets to date and this is the highest score to date. Rangers are Tony’s best team.
James has picked up his second win of the season and this is the second time of sharing the cash. James last won in Week Four. Since then he has picked up three blank score sheets. His best team is still Manchester City. Here are our winners teams

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We all picked up some more goals this week from the Boxing day fixtures and the race for the cash has changed this week. There we six players who picked up the highest midweek score with nine goals each. There are a total of eighteen players that now are on a total of 50 or more midweek goals now.
This week it’s PATRICK O’DONAGHUE who takes the lead up from two with a total of 62 goals. Patrick picked up a total of nine goals from Fulham, Liverpool and Manchester City. ANDY EYLES has moved up from three to second place this week with a total of 60 goals. In third place last weeks leader COLIN WEBB (2) is now on a total of 59 goals. In fourth place we still have PHIL REEVE now with 58 goals. In fifth place both with 55 goals each we still have AVA & AUBREY CLARK but coming back in the race we now have TOBY BICKNELL. In sixth place back in is MATT DORAN with  a total of 54 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we had our very last full league fixture for 2019. We had just two of our teams without a game and another twelve that failed to score any goals. So with that this weekends average score moved from three goals of last weekend to 4 goals this weekend. The good news is that we all picked up some last goals of 2019. We had three teams that picked up this weekends highest score’s with five goals each. They were LEEDS UNITED, LINCOLN CITY and Scottish RAITH ROVERS.

PREMIER LEAGUE
So it’s the very last games of the decade and Champions LIVERPOOL are scoring again as they win 1-0 at home against WOLVES. Liverpool are now on a total of 54 goals while Wolves in seventh place picked up their second blank score sheet after a goal run of twenty games. LEICESTER CITY are still in second place after they won 2-1 away to WEST HAM. Leicester are now on a total of 53 goals. West Ham are now on 23 goals. MANCHESTER CITY won 2-0 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and they have taken their goals total up to 63 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. Sheffield picked up their sixth blank score sheet. CHELSEA are still in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to London rivals ARSENAL. Chelsea are now on a total of 43 goals while Arsenal hit goal number 36. MANCHESTER UNITED won 2-0 away to Burnley and they are now on a total of 38 goals. TOTTENHAM drew 2-2 away to Norwich and that now gives them a total of 36 goals. ASTON VILLA picked up their fifth blank of the season after they lost 3-0 away to Watford. EVERTON won 2-1 away to NEWCASTLE and they are now on 33 goals to Newcastle’s 21.

CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED are back on top on goal difference as they win 5-4 away to BIRMINGHAM. Leeds with their biggest result of the season, are now on a total of 47 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games, while Birmingham also picked up their highest score and now with 29 goals to their name. WEST BROM share the top with Leeds after they lost 2-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. West Brom after a goal run of fourteen games, picked up their second blank score sheet of the season. Middlesbrough are now on 26 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. In the play-off zone, FULHAM have moved up to third place after they won 1-0 at home to STOKE. Fulham are now on a total of 39 goals while Stoke picked up their ninth blank of the season. BRENTFORD are back up to fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to Millwall. Brentford have also picked up their ninth blank score sheet. NOTTINGHAM FOREST are now on 35 goals after they won 1-0 at home to Wigan and are now in fifth place. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are down to sixth place after they lost 2-1 at home to CARDIFF. Wednesday are now on 38 goals and a goal run of eleven games. Cardiff are now on 37 goals. LUTON picked up their ninth blank score sheet as they lost 3-0 away to Bristol City. HUDDERSFIELD won 2-1 at home to BLACKBURN ROVERS and they are now on a total of 28 goals to Blackburn’s 36. PRESTON lost 2-0 at home to Reading and that is their ninth blank score sheet. QUEENS PARK RANGERS are now on 41 goals as they lost 2-1 at home to Hull. BARNSLEY drew 0-0 away to Swansea and that is their eighth blank score sheet. 

LEAGUE ONE
We have three of our teams in the Play-off Zone this weekend. ROTHERHAM are now in third place after they won 4-0 at home against PETERBOROUGH who are now in sixth place. Rotherham have taken their goals tally up to 51 goals. Borough have now had a total of seven blank score sheets and now three in a row. IPSWICH are now down to fourth place after they lost 5-2 away to LINCOLN CITY. After a two game dry spell, Ipswich are now on 37 goals. Lincoln also after a two game dry spell for goals, picked up their biggest win of the season and they are now on 30 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY are now on 34 goals as they win 2-0 at home to Burton. SUNDERLAND won 2-1 away to DONCASTER and they are now on 36 goals to Doncaster’s 34. MK DONS won 3-1 at home to PORTSMOUTH and they are now on 29 goals while Portsmouth hit goal number 42 and have now scored in all of their last thirteen games. It’s 40 goals for BLACKPOOL as they drew 1-1 away to Tranmere after a two game dry spell for goals.

LEAGUE TWO
The highest team here is in the play-off zone is BRADFORD CITY, in fourth place, as they won 2-0 at home to MANSFIELD. Bradford are now on 31 goals while Mansfield picked up their tenth blank score sheet.FOREST GREEN ROVERS are now in fifth place after they won 1-0 at home to Macclesfield. Rovers are now on 33 goals. PLYMOUTH are now in seventh place after they won 2-1 at home to bottom of the table Stevenage. Plymouth are now on a total of 39 goals. SCUNTHORPE lost 3-1 away to Crewe and that is their 32nd goal of the season. LEYTON ORIENT drew 1-1 away to Newport and they are now on 33 goals. With their biggest win of the season, SALFORD CITY won 4-1 away to OLDHAM and they are now on a total of 33 goals. Oldham picked up goal number 29.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Premiership, CELTIC lost their second league game of the season to rivals RANGERS after they lost 2-1 at home. Celtic are now on a total of 68 goals and have now extended their goal run to fourteen games. Rangers are now on 60 goals. HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to Aberdeen and that is goal number 28 for them but just three goals in their last nine games.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still on top after they won 5-3 away to East Fife. Rovers are now on a total of 41 goals. FALKIRK are now in third place after they drew 1-1 away to Airdrie and they are on 42 goals. PETERHEAD won 2-0 at home to Clyde and they are now on a total of 26 goals.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are top going strong as they win 2-0 at home to Elgin City. Rangers are now on a total of 53 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-0 at home to Stirling and that is their sixth blank score sheet of the season.

Our on form team this weekend is MANCHESTER CITY after they have scored in all of their last fourteen games. They have a total of 63 goals which gives them an average score of 2.7 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is HEARTS. They have picked up a total of twelve blank score sheets in twenty-eight games played. Hearts have scored just three goals in their last nine games. They have a total of 28 goals and one vote.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

It’s all change at the top this week in the very last weekend of 2019. This weekend we can see BRADLEY CLARK at the top for his first time this season. Bradley is now the third player to hit that spot after he picked up a total of twelve goals for the week. Eight of them came from midweek with the other four from the weekend. Bradley’s combination is Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City. Behind him is now least weeks leader Guy Dowsett as he picks up a total of nine goals for the week. He has Celtic, Cove Rangers and Manchester City.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has returned to the bottom position, as he picks up just five goals for the week. This now means that The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of fifteen weeks so far. His teams are once again Barnsley 0, Sheffield United 0 and Sheffield Wednesday 1.
